We had GSMA Open Gateway Roundtable at Hong Kong today, joined by 20+ guests from operators and companies from mobile ecosystem, including China Mobile International Limited, CITIC Telecom International Holdings Ltd HKT, SmarTone, JT Group Limited and Huawei. 斯寒 Sihan Bo Chen shared the important role of Hong Kong in digital finance and online transactions, which is one of the areas that #OpenGateway #APIs are widely used to combat cybercrime, reduce online fraud, protect users' privacy, prosper #5G applications and improve user experience. Hong Liu introduced the latest progress on #OpenGateway globally, followed by JT Group Limited, Huawei and CITIC Telecom International Holdings Ltd on more case studies. 💡 At the #AI Empowered New Industrialisation forum of China Unicom Partnership Conference today, 斯寒 Sihan Bo Chen shared GSMA's active role in leading #AI discussions and collaborations in telecom and digital ecosystems. ➡ Research from GSMA Intelligence shows that while 56% of operators are actively trialing #generativeAI solutions. Their interests in AI are much higher than other new technologies, while the industry is still in the early stage of commercially adopting #genAI in a large scale ➡ At #MWC24 Shanghai, the roundtable discussion on "How Generative AI is Transforming the Telecoms Industry" explored the challenges #genAI in telecom. The success of #AI+ strategy in Telecom are facing with challenges not of from new technologies, but also the scale and complicity of existing telecom system; the required organisational changes and changes on business and service models, etc. ➡ Through AI for Impact (#AI4I) , GSMA has been working on call for industry toward responsible and ethical design and development of AI. Recently, GSMA works with IBM announced a new collaboration to facilitate and accelerate the adoption of #genAI. ➡GSMA Greater China team has been working closely with operators and digital ecosystem to integrate the use of AI and #5G in vertical industries to create value, and will continue our efforts on industry collaborations to drive more 5G+AI applications. 📌 📌 Spoiler: Greater China team started the work on identifying great use cases of 5G & AI in verticals and plans to publish and share with global audience by the end of 2024. We can't believe it's already been three weeks since we welcomed thousands of visitors to our Pavilion at #MWC24 Shanghai! Thank you to our exhibitors China Mobile, China Telecom Corporation Limited and China Unicom, who showcased great demos on GSMA Open Gateway. These memorable moments were shared with Mats Granryd, Director General of GSMA 📸

During #MWC24 Shanghai, we organised a tour of 5G verticals applications that impressed everyone attended: ➡ Visited a #5G+ smart farm in Songjiang, Shanghai, powered by China Mobile 5G capabilities and BDS (BeiDou Navigation Satellite System). Through both and edge network capabilities, the machinery and drones were empowered to conduct the full cycle from sowing, spraying pesticides to harvesting with high accuracy and reduced cost of operation and management. ➡ Visited smart warehouse and logistics at Shanghai COSCO Shipping, where full life cycle management of the companies’ major logistics tasks of lifting and lightering were demonstrated, with the implementation of high-precision positioning and #IoT to synchronise the status of logistics equipment in real time, connect key information of various systems and visualize all data and analysis in a cockpit display. ➡ Visited 5G-Advanced #V2X commercial autonomous vehicle network demonstration route. With #5GAdvanced capabilities, the data from smart cameras and radars form V2X messages, then send to control platform; and road test information such as traffic lights and road emergencies can be delivered to the vehicle end-to-end through 5G network. The 5G-Advanced network latency can be as low as <20ms at 99% reliability.

We had #OpenGateway's milestones back at #MWC24 Shanghai, where we welcomed telecom service provider in Macau CTM becoming the latest operator to join the GSMA #OpenGateway initiative; and Alibaba Cloud becoming the latest channel partner to join the GSMA Open Gateway initiative.
