News alert 📰 We're excited to see our recent news about CAW's team growth and expansion into Northern Ireland featured in Business Plus Magazine and other publications. As part of a joint venture with TES Group (TES-CAW JV), CAW has secured the operation and maintenance contract at Kinnegar Wastewater Treatment Works (WwTW) in Holywood for NI Water, which is part of the major capital upgrade during the development stage and is participating in the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase of two major upgrade projects - planned as part of the Living With Water in Belfast Plan. CAW is participating in an all-Ireland integrated team comprising Farrans Construction, TES Group and AECOM. Working collaboratively with Northern Ireland Water and its project managers from RPS and AtkinsRéalis, the integrated team is striving to develop innovative, efficient and sustainable solutions for the delivery of a modern new wastewater pumping station at Sydenham and the extensive upgrade of Kinnegar WwTW. As part of CAW’s overall expansion, several new positions have been created, seeing overall headcount increase by nearly 15% over the last year. This move into Northern Ireland and the creation of these roles are driven not only by new contracts but also by the company’s growth strategy, reflecting our commitment to continuing our close collaboration with NI Water and Uisce Éireann Irish Water to help them achieve their ambitious water management, social, and environmental goals.

Health and safety training is most effective when considered from multiple perspectives, offering the opportunity to view risks through a different pair of eyes. Last week at our Sligo Water Treatment Works, we teamed up with the local Fire Service for joint confined space training. By combining our expertise, we gained a deeper understanding of confined space hazards and strengthened our ability to prevent accidents through shared experiences. #safetyfirst #healthandsafety #skills

As the Construction Industry Federation (CIF) Construction Safety Campaign comes to a close, we've taken part in the initiative by focusing on Critical Risks over the past month. Activities have included: 👷♂️ Health screening for colleagues across all of our sites to improve health and wellbeing. 👷♂️ Life-saving bystander CPR training sessions on International #RestartaHeart Day. 👷♂️ Chemical Awareness refresher training. 👷♂️ Safety sessions focused on taking the time to stop, assess risks, and review the method statement before starting any task—routine or otherwise. 👷♂️ Rewarding individuals for active prevention and mitigation of risk. #cifsafety24 #safetyfirst #healthandsafety

For International #RestartAHeart Day yesterday, we held three bystander CPR sessions to share life-saving knowledge and skills with the team. In Ireland 5,000 cardiac arrests take place outside of hospital every year with only a 7% current national survival rate. Empowering as many people as possible to give CPR is a crucial step to help save more lives. Here's what some of our participants had to say: "Always a must, never be afraid, you never know when you might need it" Ray, CAW Electrician "This training should be mandatory" Paddy, CAW Fitter "I have never done anything like this before, it was brilliant and very educating" Coyle, CAW, Apprentice Electrician "This should be training you are never too busy to miss, quality training" Alan Power, Operator "I am a First Aid Responder, and I found this a very useful session" Nicky, CAW Electrician "I feel a lot more comfortable with the thought of finding myself in a CPR situation" Cormac, Electrician

Yesterday, Uisce Éireann Irish Water launched its AM I SAFE campaign. To mark this CAW hosted two events, one in Ringsend WwTW and one in Sligo for both the water treatment plant and wastewater treatment plant teams. The AM I SAFE calendar incorporates safety themes over the next nine months from Driving and Manual Handling, through to Lone Working and working with hazardous substances, to name just a few. During the launch session, and through our toolbox talks this month we focus on cycle safety, pedestrian safety, and the dangers of phone use and distracted driving. We have also offered our teams reflective clothing and lights to ensure they are seen as the dark mornings and nights draw in. Each AM I SAFE safety theme will drive through communications and training through each month of the year, complementing our ongoing comprehensive safety training, processes and initiatives. #AmISafe #SafetyFirst #DrivingSafely

For #greenribbonmonth we have been busy doing desk drops with tea bags, green ribbons and KitKat's, and our training this week includes advice on starting conversations about mental health and reducing the stigma. We're happy to see so many of the team across our sites wearing the green ribbon showing they are open to conversations about mental health (not just throughout September). It's an initiative close to our hearts to help end mental health stigma and discrimination. So we're sharing 5 ways to keep the Conversation going too: ✅ Start a conversation about mental health with a friend, family member or work colleague. ✅ Small things make a big difference. Ask someone how they are doing or go for a coffee. ✅ Talk, but listen too. Simply being there means a lot. ✅ Don't just chat about mental health, chat about everyday things. ✅ Educate yourself and find out more about how we can all combat stigma at https://www.seechange.ie #startaconversation #itsgoodtotalk

At the Ringsend Wastewater Treatment works in Dublin, our expert Mobile Engineering Team (MET) has been hard at work carrying out capital maintenance on the plant’s pipework and gas flow meter. These proactive measures are essential for ensuring safe, efficient biogas flow and optimal renewable energy production. Ongoing maintenance like this is vital to keeping the plant operating at peak performance at Ireland's largest wastewater treatment works! #proactivemaintenance #operationsandmaintenance #wastewatermanagement

Quality assurance is a core value for CAW when delivering capital works for our Clients. One of our current projects is the replacement of 4 Intermediate Lift Pumps with a newer more efficient pump, in partnership with our supplier Xylem and Flygt, to deliver a total pumping capacity of 7m³/s. A witnessed factory acceptance test is a critical element of the quality assurance system which was conducted by CAW's Technical Director Ciaran McCausland and CAW's Operations & Maintenance Manager Padraic Dolan. Now the pumps have been delivered to site, the construction stage is progressing. #engineeringexcellence #wastewatermanagement #operationsandmaintenance
