  • 🌉For the past year The Big Bridge has been making waves across Northern Ireland and Ireland.🌉 The innovative STEM skills learning experience is a social value partnership supported by leading construction and engineering companies Design ID Consulting Limited Farrans Construction FP McCann Ltd and ADMAN GROUP. In its first year of running the bridge reached 1,750 students from over 46 schools and held 16 events. The Big Bridge, which is a 13m long and 3m high cable-stayed model bridge, launched its second year at the Northern Ireland Science Summer School hosted by Professor Brian Cox in Ballymena this week. It will now travel to schools across the country throughout this year to inspire the next generation of construction and engineering talent through interactive workshops based on forming cohesive structures, project management and teamwork. We hope to reach over 2,000 students in 2025 as we take the bridge on a tour of Northern Ireland with our Big Bridge Roadshow. If your school is interested in being involved, then get in touch at www.thebigbridge.co.uk #bridge #stemskills #futuresatfarrans #socialvalue #socialenterprise

  • 🏗️ New Video🏗️ Griffiths Farrans JV is making excellent progress on its transformational public transport project at Bristol Airport. Since topping out in November, the team has completed the Passenger Transport Interchange steel work on level 4 and has just 3 more pours remaining to complete the structural slab on level 4, followed by stair cores and parapets. The pre-cast link bridge installation commenced last week to connect directly to the existing car park. The 48 metre-long bridge link to the terminal will be visible next month with construction to take place on the ground before it is lifted into place in two sections. #airport #aviation #construction #civilengineering Alun Griffiths (Contractors) Ltd

  • 💧We are progressing well with our project for Essex & Suffolk Water at Barsham Water Treatment Works where we are designing, supplying and installing a new Bores Treatment Stream.💧 The work is part of our client’s investment to deliver improvement works which will provide a resilient supply of clean and clear water to its customers for decades to come. Farrans work includes an interstage pumping station, a contact tank for the existing river works flow, a storage reservoir (20 Ml working volume) and a high lift pumping station for the combined flows. The project aims to provide a process plant capable of treating the full licence of the main abstraction bores and the emergency chalk bore. Barsham Water Treatment Works supports supplies for around 75,000 customers in the county and Essex and Suffolk Water are investing £49.3m to enhance the resilience and quality of drinking water produced on the site. The project includes building a new covered reservoir capable of holding 20 million litres of treated water, ready for supply to customers across a wide geographical area, including the towns of Beccles, Bungay, Lowestoft and Southwold. Alongside this, we’re adding new pumps, filters and tanks, as well as other plant and facilities that will help enhance and maintain supplies of clean, clear and great tasting tap water. #water #watersector #suffolk #england #civilengineering

  • ✈️As part of our work at Bristol Airport to deliver a transformational public transport hub, our team has been out in the local community supporting various charities. ✈️ One of these includes the Jamaica Street Project in Bristol which offers emergency accommodation and support for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Some of our team from the project, which is being delivered jointly with Alun Griffiths (Contractors) Ltd, recently visited the Jamaica Street site to donate a number of laptops & IT equipment for use by project users. These will be used by staff to deliver capacity building workshops such as financial management and employability skills to support participants to increase their opportunities to seek out and find work and accommodation for the future. #bristolairport #socialvalue #communityimpact #bristol #construction #civilengineering #aviation
