Energy efficiency was of utmost importance for the Energy Advancement and Innovation Center. The architectural precast concrete solution allowed for higher thermal performance compared to competing systems and provided precision and aesthetic flexibility to the design, making it the ideal choice for creating the intricate wave-like pattern used on the exterior façade. Of special note, this is our first project to be nominated in the BIM category. It's a prestigious honor and recognizes the use of BIM in work practices to aid in design, improve collaboration, assist with decision-making, and more. • Structural Steel Connections for Roof Stability 📍 Barrymore, Athlone – Behind the Design of Structural Connections In our recent project in Barrymore, Athlone, where we were responsible for both renovating the existing building and designing the new extension, we also focused on ensuring the roof’s stability throughout the process. Here are a few examples of the steel connections we designed to ensure roof stability during and post-construction. 1️⃣ Roof Reinforcements for Layout Modifications We designed steel connections to support the roof after changes to the layout of walls and openings. These reinforcements were crucial for maintaining structural stability and ensuring everything complies with regulations. 2️⃣ Securing the New Extension To integrate the new extension with the existing structure, we designed connections to support the roof and connect it seamlessly to the newly constructed parts of the house. This ensured that the roof's stability was maintained even after the addition. 🔧 Why it matters: These steel connections are essential for:  ●  Ensuring the roof structure stays secure and stable during renovations.  ●  Guarantee that the extension fully integrates with the existing building without compromising stability.  ●  Meeting all necessary structural regulations for safety and durability. In renovation projects like this, the right connections are the backbone of long-term stability. 💬 If you’re tackling similar projects, we’d love to share how we approach the details of structural stability. #precast #concrete #offsite #mmc #connections #house #project #extension MMC Ireland

  • 🏡 Recent Project Spotlight: Barrymore, Athlone  Here's a look at one of our recent projects—a house renovation in Barrymore, Athlone. Our role? To provide the necessary documentation for the builder to bring this vision to life. The project included two key parts:  🔹 Renovation of the Existing Building  The client wanted to reconfigure walls and openings, so we had to design reinforcements for the roof structure to ensure stability and compliance with regulations.  🔹 Design of a New Extension  We prepared detailed drawings for the extension of the foundations, walls, and roof, ensuring every detail was ready for seamless construction. Thanks to our documentation, the builder had clear and accurate plans to deliver the project efficiently and to the highest standard. 👷✨ #precast #concrete #engineers #egineering #offsite #house #project #mmc MMC Ireland

  • Impressive work by Concast Precast Group on the HSE Surgical Hub at Merlin Park University Hospital in Galway. This project highlights how precast concrete is ideal for large-scale, time-sensitive constructions, offering speed, precision, and cost-efficiency. It’s a great example of how modern methods can help boost capacity and meet the region's healthcare needs. Why Precast Concrete?  ●  Speed The ability to deliver and install large-scale precast elements significantly reduces construction time, ensuring projects like this meet tight timelines.  ●  Precision Precast elements are manufactured off-site, allowing superior quality control and reducing on-site errors.  ●  Cost Efficiency Precast concrete optimises construction processes, making projects more cost-effective and sustainable. #precast #concrete #development #project #mmc #offsite #contruction #engineers #consulting MMC Ireland

✨ New Year, New Goals: Let’s Build a Stronger 2025 ✨  I saw and liked companies' New Year’s resolutions here on LinkedIn, and thought I’d jump in and share my own thoughts for 2025 at PETRUF Consulting Engineers. As we continue shaping the future of Precast Concrete and Modern Methods of Construction, here’s what’s on my mind for the year ahead: 1️⃣ Team Up Early  We’re all about starting projects off on the right foot – collaborating closely with architects and developers from day one to ensure designs are both smart and easy to produce.  2️⃣ Go Green  Precast concrete already helps reduce our environmental footprint, but we’re looking to take it even further this year with more sustainable solutions. 🌍  3️⃣ Save Time & Money  Who doesn’t love saving both? We’re focused on designs that cut down on time and costs without cutting corners on quality or safety.  4️⃣ Keep Learning  We’re always up for learning new tricks and pushing our skills further. 2025 is about staying ahead with the latest techniques and tech to keep us on top of the game.  5️⃣ Build Stronger Relationships  We’re not just about great projects – it’s about building lasting partnerships with developers, contractors, and manufacturers. Good relationships = amazing results! 💪  6️⃣ Celebrate the Team  None of this happens without the incredible team behind it all. This year, we’ll focus even more on supporting and celebrating the people who make everything possible.  Looking forward to an amazing 2025 filled with innovation, collaboration, and plenty of wins for everyone! #petrufconsulting #precast #concrete #engineering #construction #goals #2025 MMC Ireland

  • 🏠 When There’s a Will, There’s a Way: Lessons from Offsite Construction Offsite construction is often labelled as slow and complicated due to confusing pipelines and multiple stakeholders. But as Paul Tierney highlights in the newsletter by Explore Offsite, when urgency and political will align, incredible results are possible. 💡 Case in Point: Ireland’s Response to the Ukrainian Refugee Crisis • Nearly 100,000 refugees needed housing urgently. • The Irish government standardized modular designs across manufacturers, ensuring quick scalability. • Emergency legislation bypassed slow planning while maintaining compliance. • Result: 2,700 high-quality, A1-rated homes were delivered in record time, with more on the way. 💡 Key Lessons: • Streamline processes: Standardization ensures flexibility and scalability. • Act decisively: Emergency frameworks can overcome traditional bottlenecks. • Collaborate effectively: Aligning stakeholders accelerates outcomes. This success shows what’s possible when challenges are met with clear goals and coordinated effort. 👉 Your Thoughts? How can we replicate this approach to solve broader housing challenges? #petrfuconsulting #precast #concrete #development #mmc #engineers #engineering #solutions MMC Ireland
