Fehily Timoney was awarded as lead consultant for the Dunkettle Interchange Upgrade Scheme. John Sisk & Son Ltd appointed Fehily Timoney as lead and subconsultants Ramboll UK and Clandillon Civil Consulting Ltd. to carry out the design for the scheme. Track laying is now complete on the Limerick-Foynes freight line and marks another major project milestone for our Infrastructure team. Our team have completed the removal of all original rail line infrastructure, followed by a complete renewal and relaying of 42km of track, sleepers and track bed. We have been making significant progress to date including the removal, restoration and reinstatement of the River Maigue and River Deel bridges. A big thank you to thank all our team, supply chain and track laying partner, STECONFER who have installed 66,000 sleepers. Today, we welcomed over 50 second year, engineering students from Technological University Dublin to our Dublin HQ for a setting out masterclass. The students received theory based training and completed physical tasks using the most modern setting out equipment, including total stations and scanners. 𝗦𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗣𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗲 Recently a team of hardy volunteers from Sisk and our supply chain partners Speedy Hire ventured into the wild to plant nearly 10,000 cottongrass plugs. The team spent two days in the North Pennines National Landscape and UNESCO Global Geopark, with the cottongrass helping to revegetate the peat ground. At Sisk, caring for the environment is a key part of our sustainability strategy, and this great event helps to support that. For example, in 2023 Sisk volunteers helped plant nearly 500,000 trees. As the cottongrass plugs grow their roots will spread like a mat, holding the peat surface together, slowing the flow of water over the top and reducing erosion...crucial in this area of natural beauty. Peatlands are habitats of vital importance, providing key services such as carbon storage, storing and purifying water and supporting biodiversity. Rebekah Bainbridge, Field Officer at the North Pennines National Landscape said: “Having the support of Sisk and Speedy Hire in purchasing and planting cottongrass plugs for a second year has been brilliant. The volunteers worked really hard despite the cold and wintery weather conditions and the plugs they planted will add to the other restoration techniques to help restore this degraded peatland. We have been recognised for the positive social value impact across these communities thanks to the activities we organise around our local construction projects. In London, we were a sponsor of the St Patrick's Festival 2025 in Trafalgar Square on Sunday that included a parade with the London Mayor, Sadiq Khan. What a great turnout! 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗗𝗼𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 This week is Open Doors 2025 and we have sites across the UK supporting Build UK to encourage the next generation to choose a career in construction. Today a group of 15 school children visited our Etihad Stadium North Stand Expansion site in Manchester. They listened to a range of presentations, including a 4D model demonstration and what a career in construction offers, had a Lego challenge to learn about how sites operate plus experienced views across the site in person with the help of of our colleagues. Speakers and attendees included Paul Brown, our CEO, Alan Rodger, MD of our UK North and Infrastructure business, in addition to Build UK’s Deputy Chief Executive, Jo Fautley and Janette Barrett, Senior National Account Manager at the Department of Work and Pensions. Paul Brown said: “Today has been great in showcasing to the young people who came today that the construction industry is ultimately good fun. Of course it has its really serious sides, but you can have fun on projects that is unique to the sector. If you like being outside or want a challenging career, this industry is fantastic.
