This week marks the start of a very busy year for SEAI internationally as Ireland takes over the Presidency of the European Energy Network (EnR) for 12 months. It is a prestigious and important role for Ireland. My team and I had the pleasure of hosting our EU counterparts in Dublin for the official gavel handover ceremony from Sylvain Waserman of ADEME and to convene the first full CEO meeting of our Presidency. We were also very pleased to officially welcome Ion MUNTEAN of National Center for Sustainable Energy in Moldova as new members of the EnR. Sincere thanks to Darragh O'Brien TD who addressed the CEO meeting to provide his support, and to Secretary General Oonagh Buckley for her address and support and that of her department, Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications. The European Energy Network is a network of 25 national energy agencies responsible for planning, management, and national research, as well as development and dissemination of programmes in energy efficiency, renewable energy, and climate change mitigation. EnR is the first point of contact for national energy agencies in EU Member States as we seek to strengthen cooperation between member agencies and relevant European actors on all issues pertaining to sustainable energy, including energy efficiency, sustainable transport, and renewables. International cooperation is critical for Ireland as we strive to meet the 2030 climate targets. Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) looks forward to a busy and constructive year ahead as we aim to build on the successful joint presidency of ADEME, ADENE - Agência para a Energia, German Energy Agency (dena) and Netherlands Enterprise Agency as we seek to collaborate to drive the energy transition across Europe. https://lnkd.in/eCggZaXm #sustainableenergy #energyefficiency
