I am really pleased to announce a major new initiative between SEAI, Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications, Brian Carroll, Oonagh Buckley, and large industry companies with support from Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment which will transform energy efficiency and decarbonisation in some of Ireland’s largest organisations. The Industry Decarbonisation Partnership is a renewed approach, laser-focused on supporting large energy users, who are leading by example in how they reduce emissions through decarbonisation and adopting best practice in their companies. We estimate that collectively they have the potential to decarbonise their businesses by up to 1 million tonnes of CO2 by 2030.   Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) has worked with large energy users for decades through our Large Industry Energy Network (LIEN), so we know decarbonisation at scale and pace is extremely challenging. Our new Industry Decarbonisation Partnership heralds a fresh approach to build on this work and deliver the required step change in action. Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, led by Secretary General Declan Hughes, recently published the Roadmap for the Decarbonisation of Industrial Heat. This sets out the required pathway for achieving emissions reduction in the industry sector. It identifies necessary interventions which are energy efficiency, heat electrification, biomass, and biomethane, while also highlighting SEAI supports available to companies, forthcoming regulations, and the policies underpinning them.   I want to thank and commend our founding industry decarbonisation partners who are leading by example – Aughinish Alumina Ltd., Dairygold Co-Operative Society Ltd, Tirlán, Mannok, MSD, Pfizer, Roadstone Ltd., Johnson & Johnson Vision Care - VISTAKON - for their engagement, passion and shared ambition to accelerate emissions reduction in their companies.
