About us
Tesco is one of the biggest private sector employers in Ireland employing over 13,000 colleagues across the country. Our core purpose is to serve our customers, communities and planet a little better every day - this is at the heart of everything we do. Supporting local suppliers is very much part of the business ethos of Tesco Ireland; we source from almost 500 Irish food and drink suppliers, in turn supporting almost 14,000 Irish farm families. All of the fresh beef, pork, lamb and eggs that Tesco Ireland sells are 100% Irish. In Ireland and internationally, we provide opportunities to get on, with diverse careers spanning retail stores, head office and our distribution centres. Everyone is welcome at Tesco - whoever you are, wherever you work, and whatever you do.

A big thank you to @Tánaiste Micheál Martin who joined our Chief Operating Officer Geoff Byrne CDir today to help turn the sod on the site of our construction of a Tesco Superstore at Fermoy, Co Cork. Tesco Fermoy will open in summer 2025 and will employ in the region of 100 colleagues. The store will include car parking and cycle parking facilities, F&F clothing, and a dedicated Tesco Mobile phone shop; as well as the provision of Click+Collect services for customers and a Grocery Home Shopping hub to serve the wider catchment of North Cork. An Tánaiste, Micheál Martin, TD, said, “I’m delighted to see Tesco Ireland begin work on this new store in Fermoy. The retailer is a great employer across Cork County, and a big supporter of local Cork suppliers like Keohane’s Seafood, Silver Pail, and Irish Yoghurts. I’m sure this new store will have a very positive impact on the local economy of this vibrant Cork town.” Geoff Byrne CDir, Chief Operating Officer, Tesco Ireland said, “We’re finally on site in Fermoy and we couldn’t be happier to turn this sod today. Once completed, this new store will bring all the positive benefits that Tesco brings to a town; including local jobs, community supports, opportunities for local suppliers and a new shopping experience for colleagues and customers.”

Since Autumn 2023, Tesco Ireland has successfully moved all own brand eggs to barn, free range, and organic eggs, reflecting a welfare commitment to do so before 2025. Crackin' news 🥚 Two years ahead of schedule, working with John Mohan and his 120 strong team in Greenfield Foods, Co Monaghan; we’re extremely proud to source and sell 100% Irish eggs exclusively in stores and online. Tesco has worked with our strategic egg supplier, Greenfield Foods for over 25 years, and weathered many storms together, which is the testament to true partnership and commitment. Greenfield are the egg-sperts in the industry leading the way on sustainability including zero waste to landfill, the use of solar energy, controlled water systems and much more to improve and maintain quality on site. Annually, almost 20 million dozen Irish eggs are purchased by Tesco customers in Ireland. In buying their eggs from us, they too are recognising the commitment to quality, Irish sourcing, and choose to support the Irish egg farming industry. 🍳 And we’re not done yet, we’re well on the way to transitioning products made using eggs to be cage free too. 🐔 We’re *egg-static* about this progress and can’t wait to see what the future holds. We've done it again! For an eighth consecutive year Irish suppliers have scored Tesco Ireland as their retailer of choice for engagement and collaboration, according to a new ‘Voice of the Supplier Report’ Advantage Group International UK and Ireland. Tesco Ireland Commercial Director, Joe Manning said: “We are delighted to receive this vote of confidence from suppliers across Ireland, through the independent survey from Advantage. Once again, we’ve been recognised by our supplier partners as the number one retailer to do business with. We take great care in the ways in which we collaborate and engage with our supplier partners and are always seeking new ways to improve that relationship. Our 1,000 plus network of suppliers are hugely important to our business, and it is heartening to know that they rate us so highly under these key competencies.” #supportingirishsuppliers

Now in its 10th year, the Community Fund continues to provide vital support to community groups across Ireland.
