Senior UX Designer, Digital Innovation Team at Unum Ireland. UX/UI design specialist empowering teams with design thinking to innovate and enhance customer experience.
Myself and eleven colleagues from Unum Ireland mentored teams of students in this year's The Big Idea - Ireland initiative. It was hugely rewarding for us as mentors throughout the process, seeing the students grow in confidence, the ambition of their ideas and how they put into practice the advice we offered. A really lovely touch from the crew at The B!g Idea this year were the personalised impact reports. Not only is it great to see the impact that we all made personally, they're a fabulous example of storytelling and design.

BsC Hons in Computer Forensics and Security in SETU Waterford I am passionate about all things frontend, UX/UI and cybersecurity, and I hope to learn more throughout my studies and experiences.
I have just completed my Unum Summer Internship Taster Programme, in Unum Carlow. The experience and insights I’ve gained from seeing the work environment, roles/positions within the company and overall feel of how being on a team would be really gave me a taste of how a career within the industry would play out. The exposure was of great value to me, and I wish the best of luck to all of my fellow students who attended in their future studies and careers. I would like to thank my appointed manager, Gail Cooper for the opportunity to see various roles within the company, and seeing different perspectives throughout my job shadowing and talking to my mentors on a day to day basis. Thank you so much to Unum Carlow once again for the chance to attend the program.

I'm glad to share that I completed the Unum Summer Internship Taster programme today and I enjoyed it thoroughly! I had the opportunity to job shadow and ask many questions to their cybersecurity team, attend presentations from various roles withtin their Irish branch and get immersed in the culture of the company. I found the programme to be very informative as it helped me understand the roles and team dynamics I will encounter in a work environment. It was also great to learn about other interesting roles in the tech industry that were not apparent to me before and how transferable my skills could be if I decided to change my career path down the line. I highly recommend the program to any of my peers considering it. I felt the exposure to a real-life work environment was insightful and I believe it will be beneficial for me in the future. Special thanks to my mentor Paul Sealy for organizing my job shadowing and Gillian O'Connor - Assoc CIPD - MBS - B.A. (Hons) - APSCo for coordinating the schedules, as well as the entire cybersecurity team for all their explanations and answers to my many questions. Also thanks to all the presenters who took time out of their day to explain their roles and all the others who made this programme possible. I wish the best of luck to all of my fellow students I connected with during the program with their future studies and thanks to Unum Ireland again for giving me this invaluable opportunity (and all the free merch) 😊. #SETU #SETUCarlow #SETUWaterford #Maynooth #Unum #UnumCarlow #UnumIreland #ireland #irish #womenintech #womeninstem #cybercrime #cybersecurity #internship #summerinternship
