  • Inspiring the next generation of talent 📣 We recently hosted our annual Technology Seminar in Kongsberg, bringing together nearly 400 tenth-grade students to explore the possibilities within science and technology. The event aimed to spark curiosity while offering practical insights into various career paths. As Vidar Lande, Senior HR Advisor at Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace explains, "Our purpose is to support young people in making informed choices that truly fit them." Beyond showcasing the thrill of technology, the seminar highlighted the diverse range of skills and competencies needed in a global technology company like KONGSBERG. From technical expertise to research, project management, and creative problem-solving, students gained a realistic view of what it takes to succeed in the field. "Even if a student leaves today’s seminar realizing that a career in technology isn’t for them, we still consider that a success. Our goal isn’t to push any specific path but to open their eyes to the diverse opportunities within science and technology," Lande added. 🔗 Click here to read more: https://brnw.ch/21wOu5V #TechnologySeminar #Innovation #Career

  • 🤝 US Marine Corps Initiates Full-Rate Production for ACV-30 We have just received a contract from the United States Marine Corps for long lead items, signaling the start of full-rate production for the Amphibious Combat Vehicle 30mm program (ACV-30). The items included in the USD 51 million contract are subcomponents specific to the 30mm remote turret, manufactured by KONGSBERG in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. The contract is part of a framework agreement (“undefinitized contract action”) worth up to USD 329 million. The ACV-30 mounts a stabilized, remotely operated Medium Calibre Trurret (MCT-30) manufactured by KONGSBERG that provides the protection Marines need while leaving ample room for troop capacity and payload while keeping the crew under armor. The remote turret eliminates the space requirement of legacy turreted cannon systems and provides more room to transport troops or mission essential equipment, and reduces weight for better mobility. “This agreement is an important milestone for the US Marine Corps ACV-30 program, enabling rapid deliveries when full-rate production starts. We are pleased that US Marine Corp has selected the highly advanced 30mm PROTECTOR remote turret system from KONGSBERG in the program,” said Eirik Lie, President of Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace. 🔗 Click here to read the full press release: https://brnw.ch/21wOrUh #RWS #PROTECTOR #Turret #ACV30

🚀 USN Horizon’s first rocket launch at EuRoC The student organisation USN Horizon from the University of South-Eastern Norway (Universitetet i Sørøst-Norge) has just completed its debut participation in the European Rocketry Challenge in Portugal. Sponsored by Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, they have worked tirelessly on their very first project, “Not Rocket Science.” Along the way, they encountered both logistical and technical challenges, yet achieved impressive results and gained invaluable experience. “We are incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished, and Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace has played a crucial role in that,” says Hannes Weigel, leader of USN Horizon. Their sponsorship has been essential in making our rocket launch possible.” It all started with a question: “How hard can it be?” That question took hold, the idea became reality, and USN Horizon was established. When the launch finally became a reality, it was an emotional moment for the entire student organisation. The rocket reached an impressive altitude of 5,685 metres, with a top speed of 400 m/s and a descent speed of 230 m/s. Congratulations to everyone involved in the project! This launch marks a true milestone for the students, demonstrating what’s achievable with determination, teamwork, and the right support. We look forward to seeing where USN Horizon’s journey will lead next. 🔗 Click here to read more: https://brnw.ch/21wOnCl #USNHorizon #Sponsorship #EuRoC24

  • 🤝 KONGSBERG secures new JSM contract from Japan We have entered a fourth follow-on contract with Japan to supply the Joint Strike Missile (JSM) for the country’s fleet of F-35A fighter aircraft. The contract is valued at NOK 1.9 billion. The JSM is a 5th generation stealth air-to surface missile developed to fill F-35A anti-surface warfare (ASuW) and land attack capability gaps. JSM can be carried internally in the F-35A thus ensuring the aircraft’s agility, range and low-signature capabilities. “The fifth order for the Joint Strike Missile underlines the important role of the JSM in Japan’s national defence strategy and is another example of the close and growing relationship between Norway, Japan and KONGSBERG,” said Eirik Lie, President of Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace. Japan first ordered the JSM in 2018 and has since placed several follow-on contracts with KONGSBERG. The JSM user community continues to grow, and now includes Norway, Japan, Australia, and the United States Air Force. 🔗Click here to read the press release: https://brnw.ch/21wOi6M #JSM #JointStrikeMissile #DefenceIndustry
