About us
Lighthouse Communities Foundation (LCF) is a Section 8 Non-profit company headquartered in Pune, Maharashtra. It was founded in 2011 with the thought of creating a platform that would enable Public-Private Partnerships in the social development space. The priority objective of LCF is to change the life trajectories of disadvantaged youth (18- 35) from low-income communities to set them on the path of sustainable livelihoods. Building “agency” or “strength” in youth equips them with the self-confidence to address the diverse challenges they will face, overcome obstacles and “begin again.” While building agency unlocks aspiration and builds self-worth, youth need support from the local ecosystem to achieve their dreams. The convergence of agency, skilling and placement across the local ecosystem catalyses a strategic, collaborative approach, leading to positive outcomes for disadvantaged youth.

Working in the development sector is a daunting task in itself! Even if each day is a new start, there are days when it's easy to hit rock bottom! Even if you are highly self-motivated, there are moments of dismay. When I feel nothing is falling in place, I get inspiration from our youth and their stories of struggle to success. From struggling to practice basic human rights to becoming a role model in their own community is a huge transformation of our youth. One such story is of Manasi's, which inspired me to the core. After completing the Logistics course offered by GOYN Udaan, Manasi joined the DTDC office and is growing from strength to strength. Being the eldest at home and the sole breadwinner for a family of 6 people, Manasi shows an indomitable spirit. She is supporting her younger siblings for education and also providing for her family. She has completed 4 months in this job as a counter staff under Retail Business. We extended a token of appreciation for her and wished her the best for her career. She sounds determined to change the future! Thanking DTDC Express Limited DTDC ATK for employing our youth at their outlets across Pune.
