The op-ed titled "Call to Design a Robust Legal Framework to Combat Lead Poisoning in the Country" 🏥⚖️ by Ankeetaa Mahesshwari, Associate Fellow at Pahle India Foundation, and Aditya Prasanna Bhattacharya, Senior Resident Fellow at Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy, published in The New Indian Express, emphasizes the urgent need for a comprehensive legal framework to address the growing issue of lead poisoning in India. The authors argue that lead poisoning remains largely under-recognized as a public health threat in the country. Without a strong, well-enforced legal structure, even the most well-intentioned laws will fail to effectively combat this issue. India is at a pivotal moment—by drafting and implementing a robust law to tackle lead poisoning, the country can protect its population's health, enhance its global standing, and pave the way for sustainable economic growth.🌍💪 The piece calls for a law that is not only comprehensive in scope but also ensures strong advocacy and enforcement, signaling India's readiness to confront one of the most urgent environmental and public health challenges of our time.💡🔍 #LeadPoisoning #PublicHealth #EnvironmentalJustice #India #LegalReform #SustainableDevelopment #HealthPolicy #Advocacy #GlobalHealth #FutureOfIndia #NewIndianExpress #PahleIndiaFoundation

Lead exposure has significant effects on cardiovascular health. Studies have shown that even low levels of lead in the blood can increase the risk of heart disease. Lead exposure is associated with higher blood pressure, which is a major risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. Additionally, lead can cause damage to the heart and blood vessels, leading to an increased risk of heart attacks and strokes. 🧠 The World Bank I The Lancet Group #LeadPoisoning #cardiovascular #HeartDisease #stroke #WHO #LeadExposure #awareness Image Source: Lancet Planet Health 2023

India’s textile sector is on an incredible trajectory, with a projected 10% annual growth rate expected to drive the market to $350 billion by 2030 📈. With strategic policy support and new industrial parks 🏭, the sector is on track to achieve $100 billion in exports in the same timeframe 🌍. Key drivers fuelling this growth include: Government Initiatives: The production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme and "Make in India" 🇮🇳 initiatives are empowering local manufacturers and attracting significant FDI 💰. Sustainable & Technical Textiles: Innovations in eco-friendly textiles 🌱 and technical fibers (like Sportech 🏋️♂️ and Meditech 🏥) are setting new industry benchmarks. Infrastructure Boost: Seven Mega Textile Parks under the PM MITRA initiative promise state-of-the-art facilities 🏗️, creating vast employment 👥 and boosting exports 📦. Global Demand Surge: India’s competitive advantages in skilled labour 💼 and raw material availability 🧵 make it an attractive export destination, especially with increasing demand from the US, EU, and UK. With 45 million workers 👷♀️👷♂️, India stands as a global textile powerhouse 🌟 ready to lead in sustainable and innovative textile solutions 🌍. Let’s champion this sector's growth and drive forward the fabric of our economy! 🚀 #TextilePowerhouse #MakeInIndia #SustainableTextiles #TextileGrowth #IndianTextiles #PMMITRA #TextileExports #EaseOfDoingBusiness #EaseOfDoingExports #TextileManufacturing

Air pollution poses a significant threat to public health, leading to a range of acute and chronic health conditions. Short-term exposure to polluted air can cause respiratory issues such as asthma, bronchitis, and irritation of the eyes, nose, and throat. Long-term exposure, however, is far more detrimental, contributing to serious conditions like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung cancer, and cardiovascular diseases, including heart attacks and strokes. Vulnerable populations, such as children, the elderly, and individuals with pre-existing health conditions, are particularly at risk. The economic burden of treating pollution-related health issues and the loss of productivity due to illness further underscore the urgent need for effective air quality management and pollution control measures. #AirPollution #Health #NaturalFarming #Agriculture #Policy #AQI #CleanAir #PahleIndiaPollution #India Pollution Control India I UN Environment Programme I Government of India

Odisha is now among India's top 10 exporting states, having increased its exports by approximately 68% in recent years. Despite this success, certain challenges remain. First, eight sectors contribute nearly 98% of these exports, indicating a need for diversification to sustain growth and resilience against market fluctuations. Second, In FY 2020-21, Odisha exported raw fish and marine products worth $405.22 million, but processed products accounted for only $14.86 million. By enhancing value addition in this sector, Odisha may diversify its economy and boost employment opportunities.
