In Mandapam Harbour, Tamil Nadu, a group of 15 fisherwomen from Ramanathapuram district has rewritten their futures with a new venture—Neithal Vasam, a fish processing unit and brand for dry fish, fish amino liquid fertilisers, and ready-to-eat fish products. Through Neithal Vasam, these women, including widows, elderly, and homemakers, now enjoy financial independence and a life free from debt. Led by V. Aishwariya in Planning and Marketing, they’ve united in a shared goal to build secure, dignified livelihoods. This inspiring journey began in 2022, when Reliance Foundation, in collaboration with MABIF and the Department of Fisheries, stepped in to identify and support their needs. The women received hands-on training in fish value addition, amino preparation, and marketing techniques, which equipped them with vital skills to start their own business. Additionally, under the ‘Gaja Cyclone Reconstruction Project,’ they gained access to critical infrastructure—fish driers, machines, and cold storage facilities valued at INR 40 lakhs—enabling them to produce high-quality products with proper packaging. Today, with an FSSAI license and growing demand, the women of Neithal Vasam stand as symbols of resilience, showing the profound impact of skill development and community support. #RelianceFoundation #WednesdaysForWomen #WeCare #RelianceFoundationTransformingLives #Fisherwomen #NeithalVasam #FinancialIndependence #SustainableFishing #WomenEntrepreneurs

Small steps in the digital world can create ripples of change! With limited knowledge and skills, Ranjana Solanki, hailing from the tribal community of Rojahni village in Barwani, Madhya Pradesh, struggled to grow her small-scale home-based tailoring business. On one hand, she could not complete orders on time; on the other, she found it difficult to expand her customer base due to a lack of diverse designs. A determined Ranjana aspired to improve her efficiency, but a lack of learning opportunities in her village hindered her progress. A world of possibilities opened up for Ranjana when she discovered the power of digital tools, all readily accessible through her husband’s smartphone. It was a financial inclusion and digital literacy training organised by Reliance Foundation’s partner NGO - Samarthan, where she first learnt about digital apps such as WhatsApp, YouTube, Google Search, and Voice Search. Armed with applications like YouTube, she explored new sewing techniques and designs, while she utilised WhatsApp to expand her customer base. 💻✂️💡 It just took her four months to diversify her offerings, increase the quantity, enhance the quality, and generate higher earnings. Her journey with digital skills and technology proves that success is only a few clicks away in today’s tech-driven world. Reliance Foundation salutes her determination to build a brighter future for her family and herself. #RelianceFoundation #WeCare #TransformationalTuesdays #RelianceFoundationTransformingLives #DigitalEmpowerment #TechForGood #LivelihoodTransformation #RuralEntrepreneurship

Priya Sahu, at just 17, stands as a remarkable example of what determination can achieve. Growing up in a family where her father worked as a carpenter and farmer to make ends meet, Priya faced financial hardships early on. Yet, she stayed determined to succeed in her studies, always pushing herself toward her dreams. Her path changed when Reliance Foundation recognised her potential and stepped in to support her journey. Through their educational programs, they provided her with much-needed resources like a dedicated bus to school, smart classrooms, and computer training. She also received personalised mentorship and help from remedial teachers, all of which made a big difference in her academic journey. One of the most impactful parts of her journey was the CBM Shahdol GET Mentorship Program, where young engineers provided valuable coaching and encouragement. With this support, Priya excelled in her studies, scoring 75.02% in her Class 12th exams and emerging as a topper. Now, she’s pursuing a BSc in Mathematics, getting advanced computer training at Reliance Foundation’s centre, and preparing for the SSC GD exam through their coaching classes. Priya’s story is a powerful reminder of how opportunity, coupled with hard work, can help young people overcome obstacles and achieve their dreams. #RelianceFoundation #RelianceFoundationTransformingLives #WeCare #ShikshaShukravar #EducationForAll #DreamBig
