  • On this World Water Day, we are happy to share that, SRIJAN, with support from Standard Chartered India, is working in the water-scarce districts of Karauli, Rajasthan and Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh to uplift underprivileged communities by enhancing their access to irrigation and drinking water. SRIJAN focuses on community-centric development based on sustainable environment and livelihood promotion. Through our collective efforts, we were able to reach out to 2426 families.   Key Activities and Achievements:  1. Promoted sprinkler sets among 172 farmers, enabling efficient irrigation across 430 acres of land 2. 57 acres of land have been irrigated through Solar Irrigation Pumps. 3 Solar-Based Ground Level Reservoirs (GLRs) have been established at the hamlet level.  3. Implemented earthen bunding across 88.05 acres of farmland, improving soil moisture retention and preventing erosion. 4. Built 11 farm ponds on farmer’s lands, collectively creating a potential water storage capacity of 21,175 cubic meters, ensuring reliable water supply during dry periods.   Together, through the project interventions, we can focus on improving the soil quality, ensure 50% water conservation and efficient irrigation of land. Let us strive towards protecting and conserving water for future generations and make a conscious effort to spread awareness. #WorldWaterDay #waterconservation #ourresources #waterpotential #collectiveefforts #22March  Standard Chartered India Karuna Bhatia

Aseem Infrastructure Finance Limited is supporting SRIJAN (Self-Reliant Initiatives through Joint Action) through its CSR project titled “Establish a Renewable Energy Based Value Chain for Non-Timber Forest Produce (NTFP) Based Value Chain” for the past year and a half🍁 To commemorate this collaboration, Aseem Infrastructure Finance Limited had invited SRIJAN team from Udaipur district at Mumbai office to share their experiences. Kaku Bai (from Udaipur district) shared about her earnings through establishment of decentralized units at her village where she runs it along with other women NTFP collectors, and how they learnt about processing of custard apples and market the custard apple pulp to the Farmer Producer Organization (FPO). She has earned more than 30,000 INR in the past two seasons, each in close to one & half months, which she has used for contributing towards her children’s education. She calls it a ‘start’ and looks for a great future in coming years once more community members will join her. The day was further celebrated with an memorable event, where employees from all the Godrej BKC offices were invited to indulge in live food stalls of ‘Sitafal milkshake’, ‘Jamun shots’, ‘Ber Sticks’ along with a range of festive products like ‘Herbal Gulal’, ‘Jamun pulp’, and others, all made of non-timber forest produce including blueberry, custard apple, Ber and Palash flowers with support of Ghummar Mahila Producer Company Limited, their marketing partner. The event saw a footfall of more than 600 people from various company offices. At Aseem Infrastructure, we are committed to making a difference in whatever small ways we can. It was truly a pleasure to host the SRIJAN team at our office! 🌟 Virender Pankaj Nisheeth Khare Nilesh Sampat BHAWIN SHAH Shishir Kumar Mangesh Dakhore Nitesh Kumar

Head of Sustainability, Flipkart group | Social & Environmental Impact Advisor to Walmart.org in India

As we celebrate #InternationalWomen’sDay, it’s inspiring to see the impact of Walmart Foundation grantees including Professional Assistance For Development Action (PRADAN), S M Sehgal Foundation, Transform Rural India foundation, ACCESS Development Services, Action for Social Advancement (ASA), Bhopal, TechnoServe, Grameen Foundation, SRIJAN (Self-Reliant Initiatives through Joint Action) and celebrate the journeys of smallholder women farmers across India, who are breaking barriers and transforming their communities! The impact created is indeed remarkable- be it through greater participation, improved access to finance, better market reach, improved yields through adoption of natural farming practices, or women farmers gaining agency and decision making. Two shining examples of women, who have harnessed the opportunities through these key collaborations are Muni Heprika and Hemlata Lodhi. From an annual income of Rs. 20,000, Odisha based Muni Heprika’s earnings grew to Rs. 122,914 per year. Being trained under PRADAN’s PROWFIT program on pest control and better cultivation techniques, Muni was able to maximize her yield and income. Likewise, Hemlata Lodhi from Chaurai village who is supported by the project UDAAN by ACCESS Development Services, sold 47.5 quintals of garlic worth Rs 52,250 through the Farmer Producer Company (#FPC), she received payment the same day and earned an additional profit of Rs 9,500 over and above the price offered by local traders. This #IWD, as we #AccelerateAction to empower women to thrive and lead through collective efforts, let us continue to nurture a brighter, prosperous and resilient farming community. “Meri Awaaz Suno!” (Literally: Hear my Voice!) Nothing is more uplifting that to hear stories - direct and unfiltered-from those driving true change and transformation deep in rural India.. Recently, SRIJAN (Self-Reliant Initiatives through Joint Action) , an organisation which Hindustan Unilever Foundation (HUF) has supported for a fascinating programme in Bundelkhand marked the 25th anniversary. A rousing, enthusing speech by their CEO, Prasanna Khemariya set the tone- for the mountains ⛰️ yet to climb. The piece de resistance? to hear impassioned tales from these true leaders from the ground, all women, who are leading the charge for the uplifting of the communities they are a part of - instilling and integrating sustainable practices in everything that they do. Each story a gem 💎. An inspiration. Moving. Kudos to the organising team to give them this platform- on stage, in the national capital. More power 💪 to them, and Civil Society organisations like SRIJAN which support them in their journey. #JalAajAurKal #HUF #Sustainability
