Recently, Self Reliant Initiatives through Joint Action (SRIJAN) had been invited by Development Alternatives to participate as a panellist for discussion on the topic “Harnessing Traditional Knowledge for Water Conservation” during the 8th India Water Week 2024. SRIJAN took this opportunity to share their valuable experiences from the Bundelkhand region, specifically through the flagship initiative Bundelkhand Initiatives for Water, Agriculture and Livelihood (BIWAL). During the panel discussion, SRIJAN highlighted the significant multi-fold positive impacts of utilizing traditional water harvesting structures, such as the Chandela tanks found in the Bundelkhand area. By effectively managing these resources, SRIJAN had successfully enhanced the productivity of local farmers, particularly through the strategic use of silt on their individual farms. #IndiaWaterWeek2024 #waterpotential #BIWAL #waterconservation #paneldiscussion
