In celebration of Bahrain's outstanding aviation achievements, Bahrain International Airport (BIA) was awarded the “Best Airport Staff in the Middle East 2024” from Skytrax for the second consecutive year at the 2024 World Airport Awards, the most prestigious accolades for the airport industry. Brain Bar 2024, the largest European festival on the future and exchange of ideas, took place in Budapest, Hungary. Bahrain’s session, titled, “Innovation, Middle-East-Style: The future as seen from the smallest country in the region” featured H.E. Iain Lindsay OB OBE, Bahrain EDB’s Advisor to the Board, as the panel moderator, with Rana Mohammed Ali from Bahrain EDB’s International Offices and Sara Janahi from the Ministry of Youth. Routes World 2024 is set to convene in Bahrain this week (6–8 October), bringing together more than 2,300 decision makers from airlines, airports, and destinations to define future global air connectivity. According to the Ministry of Finance and National Economy’s latest Economic Quarterly Report, Bahrain’s Real GDP grew by 3.3% (YoY) in Q1 2024. This growth was supported predominantly by both the oil and non-oil sectors. The non-oil sector made a significant contribution of 85.9% to the Real GDP, with the financial services and manufacturing sectors holding the largest shares within Bahrain’s Real GDP, underscoring the Kingdom’s successful economic diversification efforts.
