Today we go deeper into the concept of 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 (𝐄𝐂). 🤔 What is Electrical Conductivity (EC)? 💡 𝐄𝐂 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐬 (like calcium, magnesium, and sodium) 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐢𝐥. The higher the EC, the higher the salt concentration in the soil, which can negatively impact the ability of #plants to absorb #water and #nutrients. On the other hand, a low EC suggests the soil is low in salts, which is generally better for plant growth 🌱 🤔 Why is EC important? 👉 EC is a key indicator of soil salinity. 🤭 Yes, we know we left you with some curiosity about the trials in our last #SEEDSOFHOPE post, so here’s the exciting next chapter! 💡 The agronomic trials provide scientific evidence to evaluate  𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐞𝐝𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐨-𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, with trials currently ongoing in: 📍 #Tunisia: 2 environments 📍 #Morocco: 2 environments 📍 #Jordan: 3 environments 📍 #Egypt: 4 environments 🧑🔬 The #experiments focus on assessing the 𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐫, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬 such as quinoa, wheat, barley, and oats.
