Founded in 1988, Mohammed Muigai LLP has grown to become a leading law firm in Kenya. Recognised for its pre-eminence in providing specialised legal advisory services, high level dispute resolution (through both litigation and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms) and handling complex and high value conveyancing and commercial transactions. To effectively cater for its clientele, Mohammed Muigai LLP is organized into four complementary departments according to our areas of practice. These are the; Commercial Department, Real Estate Property Transactions (Conveyancing) Department, the Litigation and Arbitration Department, and the Legal Advisory and Consultancy Department. The four Departments work harmoniously, taking full advantage of the collective expertise and experience of the staff across the board to successfully complete assignments and transactions. The Firm strives to ensure that our clients’ interests are protected and promoted by taking a pragmatic and strategic approach to problem solving. Today we have seven partners, ten associates and a dedicated team of support staff offering expert legal advice to corporate entities, banks, insurance and financial institutions, governments and private clients. Our members have varied educational and professional backgrounds with exposure to Kenyan and other legal systems helping the firm to find innovative solutions to client challenges.

This prestigious role reinforces his outstanding contributions to corporate governance, finance, and transparency across Africa. As an esteemed legal practitioner of over 40 years’ experience, he has vast experience in corporate governance leadership, finance, commercial litigation, and regulatory frameworks. As the former Chairman of the Central Bank of Kenya Board of Directors and former Chairman of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) External Experts Panel, he has played a pivotal role in shaping corporate governance policies globally. He currently serves as a corporate governance expert trainer for the IMF in Central Bank Governance for central banks under its program. Beyond his legal practice, Mr. Nyaoga has chaired and served in several high-profile roles, including: ✅Vice-Chairman, Law Reform Commission & Chair, Business Laws Committee ✅Chairman, Mining Licences Task Force ✅Director, Capital Markets Authority ✅Chairman, International Commission of Jurists (Kenya Chapter) ✅Chairman, Ecobank Kenya ✅Chairman, Commission of Inquiry into the Suspension of the County Government of Makueni For over 22 years, he has been a certified corporate governance trainer, conducting training for boards across Kenya and internationally, including at Windsor, Cambridge, and Oxford under Central Banking Publications (UK).
