Earlier this week, we had the pleasure of hosting the Acumen team (Millycent Devinah, CFA Jedidah Ndubi, and Christopher Emmott) at SunCulture. They visited our offices to learn more about our products and processes and later joined us in the field to engage with one of our farmers. It was inspiring to hear firsthand how our solar-powered solution has helped him transition from an electric-powered pump, saving KES 4,000 monthly on electricity bills! A big thank you to the Acumen team for their visit and to the incredible SunCulture team—Shadrack Kenyagah Timothy Muchai, Krema Johnstone, and everyone else who made this visit a success. Your dedication and teamwork continue to drive our impact. Today, we had the pleasure of hosting the Acumen team as they visited to learn more about our product and processes and engage directly with one of our customers. We headed to the field for a successful visit with a farmer who uses our product. He gave us a tour of his mixed farming operation and shared his experience transitioning from an electric-powered pump. The farmer highlighted an incredible benefit - saving KES 4,000 per month on electricity bills! Thank you, Acumen team (Millycent Devinah, CFA Jedidah Ndubi and Christopher Emmott ), for taking the time to visit and see the impact of our work firsthand. 🌟 Strengthening Resilience: Health Insurance Meets Climate Action 🌱 Climate change impacts health and livelihoods, especially for smallholder farmers. That’s why SunCulture and Turaco launched SunCulture Protect—affordable health insurance tailored for farmers using PAYG solar devices. ✅ Protects against health shocks caused by extreme weather ✅ Supports livelihoods and financial stability ✅ Breaks the cycle of poverty through better health security Together, we’re empowering farmers to build resilience and sustainable futures. #SunCultureProtect #ResilienceThroughInsurance #ClimateAction #HealthSecurity
🌍 Strengthening Resilience: Health Insurance's Role in Combating Impacts of Climate Change 🌱 Did you know, each year: ➡️ 14 million people in Africa face catastrophic financial hardship due to health shocks. ➡️ Climate-related health risks could add another 10 million to this number. Climate change is not just an environmental issue; it’s a health and economic crisis. As extreme weather events become more frequent, they increasingly jeopardize the livelihoods and health of vulnerable communities, particularly smallholder farmers. To address this, SunCulture and Turaco launched 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁, an innovative health insurance solution tailored for smallholder farmers using SunCulture’s pay-as-you-go (PAYG) devices. Why health insurance matters for climate resilience: ✅ Protection Against Health Shocks: Extreme weather events like floods and droughts increase the risk of diseases and injuries. Health insurance ensures farmers and their families have access to critical care without financial ruin. ✅ Stability for Livelihoods: Farmers rely on their physical well-being to maintain productivity. Insurance safeguards their ability to work and recover after climate-related disruptions. ✅ Breaking the Cycle of Poverty: By covering medical expenses, insurance prevents families from resorting to harmful coping mechanisms like selling assets or reducing food intake. By combining solar-powered irrigation solutions with affordable, accessible insurance, SunCulture Protect empowers farmers to weather the dual challenges of climate change and health risks. #ResilienceThroughInsurance #ClimateAction #HealthSecurity #SunCultureProtect #SustainableFutures Ted Pantone Cedrick A Todwell Samir Ibrahim Tom Vranken Timothy Muchai Niraj Varia Patrick Watson Rachel Levenson Martin Githaiga Maxwell Onjoro Wanjiru Mairang'a Valentine Njoroge Lance Okeyo Loise Kalekye Catherine Wangari Simon M.
