As the rainy season intensifies, reducing flood risks in our community has become more critical. Floods not only disrupt daily life but also cause severe damage to property, infrastructure, and the environment. To address this challenge, we must take proactive measures to manage rainwater effectively and minimise the impact of heavy rains. First, improving our drainage systems is essential. Clearing and maintaining gutters, channels, and other waterways will ensure that rainwater flows freely, reducing the likelihood of blockages that can lead to flooding. Additionally, we should consider investing in flood barriers and levees in vulnerable areas to provide extra protection against rising water levels. Community engagement and education are also vital in reducing flood risks. By raising awareness about the importance of proper waste disposal, we can put an end to the clogging of the drainage systems. AYGF is fully committed to being a leading voice in the fight against malnutrition. Through our ANRiN project, we have identified and supported children under 5 and lactating mothers affected by malnutrition in Kogi, Niger, and Katsina States over the last 3 years. The project provides over 7 essential services, including the provision of Vitamin A, a crucial nutrient that plays a significant role in the growth and development of children under 5. By providing this essential vitamin, we are helping to strengthen immune systems, prevent vision problems, and reduce the risk of childhood illnesses. We are thrilled that the distribution of these commodities has had a positive impact on millions of children under 5, leading to healthier lives. #aygf #nutrition

Aisha, a bright young girl from the Karonmajigi community, has dreams of standing in a courtroom as a lawyer. But like many others, her dreams seemed out of reach without access to education. Aisha is one of the 65 at-risk pupils who, without intervention, could have seen her aspirations fade away. During the Pre-Launch of our Bridging Learning Opportunities for Out-of-school Minorities (BLOOM) project, AYGF stepped in to pay the fees of these 65 students, giving Aisha a fighting chance to chase her dreams. But Aisha's story is just one of many. Countless other children risk losing their dreams due to the inability to afford school fees and levies.
