With over 𝟒𝟎𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐞, DronePort 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠-𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 right in the heart of 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝’𝐬 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬. We fully understand that it’s challenging for organisations in the Port to find new talent. However, based on what we’ve witnessed, the younger generations are highly aware of the 𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬 reshaping sectors globally. Technologies like drones, AI, quantum computing, and more are sparking interest and ensuring a flood of talent into this sector. That’s why 𝐃𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞—by skilling and reskilling new and existing talent. 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟐 𝐨𝐟 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐃𝐚𝐲𝐬 (Wereldhavendagen Rotterdam) 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐬! 🚁🌊 We were honoured by a visit from Ingrid Coenradie | Staatssecretaris van Justitie en Veiligheid, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 Ministerie van Justitie en Veiligheid (Ministry of Justice and Security). We had an engaging conversation about 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐚𝐢𝐫, 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲 𝐚 𝐜𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐑𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐦. Given her role and responsibilities, she is an invaluable partner for both DronePort Rotterdam and the Port of Rotterdam in 𝐞𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 in a world where the 𝐩𝐡𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐲 𝐢ntertwined. Beyond her visit, we made 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 that open doors to exciting possibilities: ➡ Researching how we can 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐦𝐚𝐣𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐧 across 32 countries. ➡ Exploring how to 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟎𝟎𝐤𝐠 𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐬. ➡ 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐨-𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐝 in what is undoubtedly one of the most promising emerging technologies, as long as the focus remains on high-value, meaningful use cases. And, of course, it's the people who truly make World Port Days special. One of my highlights was 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐯𝐢𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝟗𝟎-𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫-𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫—full of life and energy. When we asked him his secret, he simply said: "Doe alleen dingen die je zin geven en die zinvol zijn." (𝐎𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐟𝐮𝐥). That piece of wisdom made our day, and we couldn't resist giving him a big hug in gratitude! ❤️ Later today, we will be making a video recap of Day 2 and 3 - we have so much footage that we couldn’t choose! 🎥 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐃𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, and today was another perfect example of that. Not pictured, but just as relevant, our good friend and political mastermind, Gillis Oudeman! #WorldPortDays #Innovation #Drones #PortOfRotterdam #Connections #EmergingTechnologies

🚁 DronePort Rotterdam at World Port Days 2024 (Wereldhavendagen): Day 1 Highlights! 🚢 What a fantastic start! Yesterday, DronePort Rotterdam, with the incredible support of DDC - Smart Inspections, made its mark at the Innovation Quay during World Port Days, hosted by the Port of Rotterdam and organised by Platform Zero. We captured 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 of all the action on water and in the air, thanks to the Koninklijke Luchtmacht of the Ministerie van Defensie. The response was overwhelming, with 𝐡𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 stopping by our stand—young children, students, professionals, and the elderly. It was clear: when drone technology adds value to people's lives or business models, it’s 𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬. The enthusiasm from younger generations was clear, as we 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬, 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫—showcasing a 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐢𝐩𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 and a 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲. On top of that, we witnessed Wattlab set a Guinness World Records for 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐥𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐚 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩! 🌱💪 A huge milestone for sustainability, made possible by HGK Shipping GmbH under the leadership of CEO Steffen Bauer. Congratulations to Bo Salet, David Kester and the whole team, with special thanks to Gemeente Rotterdam alderman Chantal Zeegers for the support! 𝐑𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐦 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐝 by combining 𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 and 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 in a way that positively impacts the Port and its surroundings—a blueprint for ports worldwide. In Rotterdam, 𝐰𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧, turning innovation into 𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞! 🚀 We also made 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 with coverage on the 8 o’clock news and several publications, showcasing us as a 𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞. DronePort Rotterdam Visits the KRVE Rotterdam Boatmen Yesterday, DronePort Rotterdam (Niels Kalshoven, Lisa van der Heijden and Arthur Dallau) had the privilege of visiting the Royal Boatmen’s Association Eendracht (KRVE), 𝐚 𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐧𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐑𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐦 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝟏𝟖𝟗𝟓. As we prepare for our presence during the 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐃𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒, there was no better way to get inspired than by connecting with an association that has delivered exceptional service and operated 24/7 for over 129 years. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Bastiaan Ruitenga for arranging our meeting with the KRVE Board, and being such a great partner the last couple of months. A special thank you to Erik de Neef, Chairman of KRVE, for his open-minded and constructive approach during our conversation, and his willingness to work with us towards the future. It was an invaluable opportunity to discuss "Nautical Services 2.0" and the potential role drones can play in enhancing the port's operations. These discussions reinforced the importance of practical use cases and validating the impact drones can have—both on business models and at a societal level. Without this validation, successfully implementing drone regulations and policies would be impossible. The conversations also highlighted that 𝐔-𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐨 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐧𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬, 𝐚𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐬 𝐮𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐧 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠. Founded in 1895, when boatmen still manually secured and loosened ropes from rowboats, they earned the title "Royal" on their 100th anniversary in 1995. Today, with a modern fleet of around 60 vessels and a team of highly qualified skippers, KRVE continues to provide top-tier service in all conditions, day and night, 365 days a year. We are excited to explore how drones can add value to KRVE's operations and the wider port community, enhancing safety, security and efficiency in a port known for its pioneering spirit. Together, we aim to ensure a safe, secure, and sustainable future for the port, 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨-𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝. in Rotterdam #WeMakeItHappen! #DronePortRotterdam #KRVE #WorldPortDays2024 #NauticalServices2_0 #SmartPort #Innovation #DroneHorizon #USpace
