Solar Energy International (SEI) works with veterans to ease their transition from military service to civilian life by providing industry-leading training in solar installation. Through funding from our Blackstone Gives Back Challenge win, we’re proud to support SEI’s Solar Ready Veterans training program and provide scholarships to select veterans, offering them greater opportunities and the skills needed to excel in the solar industry. This program works in conjunction with the DoD-SkillBridge initiative, which enables active-duty service members to engage in career training while continuing to receive military compensation and benefits. This program facilitates a seamless transition into civilian careers across various industries, including solar. A special thanks to Tim Krueger, Dustin Creed, Nathaniel Shoenhoefer, Dan Rolson, and Blackstone for their continued support of SEI and their veterans programs.

Solar energy is essential to achieving U.S. energy independence, creating jobs, and building a robust domestic energy supply chain. In recent years, the U.S. has rapidly expanded its solar manufacturing capabilities, jumping from 14th to 3rd globally in solar panel production, with billions invested in new factories and advanced technology. Vera Vos-Lexmond, founder of Enstall Empowers, has been instrumental in strengthening our partnership with Solar Energy International (SEI). Vera led the collaboration between SEI and Enstall Empowers for the Blackstone Gives Back Challenge, securing funding for Empowers and SEI to launch the impactful Veterans Ready Program. Meet Yvonne Meijer, our Board Member of Enstall Empowers. Currently, in role at Enstall as a Management Assistant, Yvonne brings a wealth of experience from her previous work with organizations. Her passion for addressing human rights, poverty, and oppression drives her work, as she believes we all have a role to play in making the world a better place. At Enstall Empowers, Yvonne provides vital support, particularly in setting up small projects and events that raise awareness for various causes. One of her favorite projects was with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, where she helped organize a fundraising event to grant wishes for children with serious illnesses, raising significant funds to make two life-changing wishes come true. In recent weeks, Yvonne has played a key role in supporting her Sunfer colleagues affected by floods, showcasing her dedication to providing help where it’s needed most. Her work at Empowers is both varied and fulfilling, allowing her to contribute to meaningful projects and make a real difference in the world. Susan Stark, Training Manager at IronRidge - An Enstall Company, embodies the value of education and opportunity, principles at the core of our partnership with Solar Energy International (SEI). Her journey began at SEI, where she earned four professional certifications and completed two rigorous lab trainings to prepare for the NABCEP exam. This foundation launched her into a decade-long career at Enstall companies QuickMount and IronRidge, solidifying her expertise in the solar industry. Sue’s dedication to education comes full circle in her role as an advisory committee member for SEI. Drawing from her years of field experience, she collaborates with SEI to develop curriculum for field applications, ensuring that the next generation of solar professionals is prepared to drive the global energy transition forward. In addition, Sue is a Board Member of Enstall Empowers, where she continues to drive access to education and opportunity through trainings, collaborations, and more. Sue's story truly reflects the impact of SEI and Enstall’s commitment to education and empowerment in creating a sustainable future.
