🎙️️ Back on Dry Land: Leon Koning's Epic Atlantic Journey 🌊 In December, Jon Baston-Pitt hosted Leon Koning on Planet Beyond Podcast where they discussed his ambitious plans to cross the Atlantic Ocean with Team Row4Cancer as part of the World's Toughest Row. 🚣♂️ Leon and his team have since returned from their epic journey, achieving three out of their four goals: reaching the finish line, beating the rest of the teams, and staying friends throughout the journey. 🎉 In this episode, Leon opens up about the physical and emotional challenges they faced during their 5,000 km row and how they kept their spirits high despite the headwinds and the knowledge that they wouldn’t be able to beat the world record! 🌬️ As they neared the end of their journey, the team eagerly anticipated reuniting with loved ones and enjoying fresh food. Exciting News! Fugro has been awarded the contract for the geotechnical site investigation at the Blue Mackerel offshore wind farm. We will carry out offshore soil investigations for the Blue Mackerel wind farm in Gippsland, Victoria. Developed by Parkwind, part of JERA Nex, this project aims to generate 1 GW of renewable energy by 2032, powering over 500,000 homes and supporting Australia's net zero emissions target by 2050. On Saturday 1 March it was World Seagrass Day. 🌿🌊 Seagrass meadows are unsung heroes in our fight against climate change. These ecosystems can capture carbon up to 35 times faster than tropical rainforests, making them vital for reducing greenhouse gases and fighting global warming. By trapping and storing carbon dioxide, seagrasses play a big role in "blue carbon" storage, helping to keep our planet healthy. We're helping to restore seagrass meadows in Italy through ISPRA’s Marine Ecosystem Restoration project. Along with CGR Compagnia Generale Ripreseaeree, PlanBlue, and EOMAP (a Fugro company), we're working on the mapping part of this important project. Our advanced technology and teamwork let us map and monitor these vital habitats with great accuracy, which helps us plan effective restoration and support long-term conservation.
