𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲: 𝗩𝗮𝗻 𝗢𝗼𝗿𝗱’𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗯𝗶𝗼𝗳𝘂𝗲𝗹 𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗱 Recently, we achieved a significant milestone in our decarbonisation efforts with the first delivery of biofuel for our flexible fallpipe vessel Stornes in Norway. For those of you who like to dive into details: 👉 the delivered biofuel is a B30 blend, consisting of 30% hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) and 70% marine gasoil (MGO). HVO is a high-quality, renewable diesel produced from waste materials, primarily used cooking oil, and certified under the ISCC scheme, ensuring its sustainability. This B30 blend has already resulted in a 26% reduction in CO2e emissions, a great result! ✅ The successful deployment of biofuel underscores our commitment to lowering our impact on climate change by reducing our emissions and becoming net-zero. The delivery also marks our first biofuel supply in Norway, expanding our potential locations for more sustainable fuel use. 🌍 Stay tuned for more updates about the decarbonisation of our vessels! #VanOord #Marineingenuity #AchievingNetZeroEmissions #SustainableEarthActions

The installation of scour protection is required to avoid the effects of erosion. This is achieved by high precision rock installation around the foundations. In recent years, Van Oord has gained valuable experience working on nature-inclusive design. With the eco-friendly scour protection we create a win-win situation, enhancing the energy transition while creating a habitat for marine life. Marine ingenuity and Building with Nature is how we take care of the planet for future generations. 🌎   𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐭 𝐋𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐤, 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: ‘𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘧𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦, 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘸𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘬 𝘴𝘪𝘻𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘨𝘦𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘳𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘢 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘥𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘴𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘯 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘣𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘧𝘪𝘵𝘴. 💡 Innovation Insights: ecological scour protection 💡 At the Ecowende wind farm we will apply ecological scour protection on a large scale and will test various designs to determine which design provides the most optimal ecological scour protection. The scour protection has been designed by our partner Van Oord. Recently, DHI carried out a physical model test campaign of different scour protection and cable protection system stabilisation designs. It was interesting to see first-hand how some of these efforts affected the performance of the scour protection and we saw very promising results, with all the designs appearing to show good stability. Ecowende's ambition is to develop and monitor the effects of our ecological efforts to build and operate a wind farm in harmony with nature. Pauline Roos, Marine Ecologist at Ecowende: “The scour protection is a good example of how we are teaming up with nature, because we take into consideration the needs of marine life and try to cater to that in our scour protection designs. By installing and extensively monitoring various designs we hope to learn more about what works best to support the local ecosystem. I look forward to seeing these designs at sea and watching marine life colonize the rocks.” Read more about ecological scour protection and other eco-innovations on our website 🖥 : https://lnkd.in/derAecuZ 📸 Asbjørn Utoft Madsen, Irene Tönis, Joe Haley, Jelle Muller, Pauline Janssen, Robert Lengkeek, Anders Wedel Nielsen #teamingupwithnature #energytransition #offshorewind #biodiversity Shell Eneco Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc.

𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐮𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞: 𝐁𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬’ 𝐣𝐚𝐜𝐤-𝐮𝐩 𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 ⚒️ Offshore installation vessel Boreas is reaching for the sky now that its 4 legs, each 123 metres in length, have been installed. These giant legs allow the vessel to be jacked up and work in waters up to 70 metres deep. As a result, it can operate stably, without being impacted by the waves. 🌊 The gigantic offshore installation vessel is capable of running on methanol and is purpose-built for the transport and installation of the next generation of 20 MW offshore wind turbines, with a height comparable to the Eiffel Tower. Concurrent with the completion of the works on the legs, the vessel’s technical installations are being commissioned to make the vessel ready for jacking, crane, and sea trials. Thereafter, the Boreas will head to the Netherlands. To be continued! 📖 #VanOord #Marineingenuity #energytransition #installationvessel #wecreate
