🛒 🛍️ ARV e-Marketplace - presenting the second item ⬇️ 🌍 For the second item of the ARV #eMarketplace, we deepen into heat pump system design and introduce the concept of #aftercooling, a breakthrough in district heating design set to optimize energy efficiency in large multi-apartment buildings 🏢 💡 Key Benefits: - Reduces return temperature by 4-8°C annually in typical buildings 🌡️ - Enables lower network temperatures, promoting the use of low-temperature surplus energy ♻️ - Helps reduce the overall district heating supply temperature 🌿 🔑 The aftercooling concept is ideal for #residential and #commercial buildings and can be integrated into new or updated #district heating substations. To fully realize its potential, an economic bonus scheme rewarding reduced return temperatures is essential. Financing home retrofits is notoriously challenging. Could retrofit carbon credits help bridge the financing gap? We worked with City of Palma and IREC to assess the feasibility of carbon credit revenue to finance residential energy retrofits in the ARV project in Palma de Mallorca. Our findings show that district-scale deep renovations can cut ~1,900 tonnes of CO2e per year, but current carbon prices are too low for profit. Communicating social benefits, alongside reducing operating costs, especially for monitoring and verification, and high-quality carbon credits are key to unlocking that premium. We identified future opportunities in: 💶 Finance: Use carbon credits as collateral for energy efficiency financing , and explore other digital financing solutions  📊 Data: Integrate digital MRV, streamline emissions reduction calculations  🤝 Demand creation: Build coalition/pipeline of national buyers and link to local project ecosystems 📒 Methodologies and standards: Test existing data frameworks’ feasibility to underpin carbon credits financing, develop (better) methodologies to capture social value Get in touch if you're tackling similar challenges or are interested in the future opportunities - we are looking for partners to explore those next! This report gives a proof of concept assessing whether carbon credits can help finance energy retrofits. Oslo Voldsløkka School is transforming the way it engages with climate issues by turning the school into a #LivingLab" for sustainability. The initiative focuses on energy transition and circularity by involving secondary school students, their families, and the local community. 🎯The goal? Raising awareness on energy-efficient solutions and fostering sustainable behavior in the neighborhood. 🌱 How? Through co-creation and dialogue with young people, the project highlights the importance of their perspectives in the sustainability conversation, often missing in urban transformations. With innovative tools like AR/VR, the Living Lab aims to engage digital-native youth in climate and energy action, empowering them to be green ambassadors for the future. 🌿The potential positive impact? Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions towards zero for the total lifecycle.
