In the critical first hours after a catch, iTUB's PE tubs play a pivotal role in preserving the quality of seafood across Europe. Made in part from recycled materials and designed for 12-15 years of use, these tubs ensure that fish are cooled quickly and efficiently, maintaining freshness from the ocean to the table. Our tubs not only support superior quality control but also champion sustainability in the seafood industry. By choosing iTUB, businesses are part of a cycle that values both product excellence and environmental responsibility. #SustainableFishing #QualitySeafood #iTUBInnovation

  • We are committed to ensuring the highest quality of fish during their journey from source to buyer. Over the years, we have explored various methods to enhance the transportation of fish, focusing on different cooling techniques such as slurry ice and flake ice. Our journey of discovery has involved collaborations with clients and researchers, aiming to develop new and improved tubs that optimize fish transport. The image showcases Arctic char being prepared for transport using slurry ice—a method that has proven exceptionally effective in preserving the quality of the fish. Slurry ice, a mixture of fine ice crystals and water, creates a semi-liquid solution that completely surrounds the fish, providing rapid and uniform cooling without causing fish drip. At iTUB, we continue to push the boundaries of what is possible in fish transportation, always striving to offer the best solutions to our clients. #QualityTransport #SustainableSeafood #Aquaculture

  • As we close 2024, we’re proud of the strides we’ve made. This year, we focused on innovation, sustainability, and delivering value to the industries we serve. Highlights include: • Launching tubs that reduce CO2 emissions by 80% and save users 25–50% on packaging and transportation. • Testing with European partners to ensure the best fish quality in transport—whether using flake ice, slurry ice, or no ice at all. • Expanding our sustainability efforts with lighter, eco-friendly tubs and circular economy initiatives like cleaning, repairing, and recycling. • Strengthening our integrated rental and sales offerings to meet diverse client needs. We’re excited to build on this momentum in 2025, continuing to innovate and lead the way in sustainable solutions. Thank you to our partners, team, and clients for being part of this journey. When iTUB was founded in 2009, we decided to produce all of our tubs from 100% PE plastic. Why? We believe in creating products that could be fully recyclable in the future. Fast forward 15 years, and the future has arrived! Today, we are recycling old 460l tubs into new ones and creating other innovative products from the same recycled material. At the same time, we’re introducing a lighter version of our durable tubs, allowing us to produce even more tubs from recycled materials. This advancement not only reduces waste but also enhances efficiency across the board. This is what circularity looks like—turning yesterday’s products into tomorrow’s solutions. #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #Innovation #iTUB #Recycling #EcoFriendly #SustainableBusiness #FutureForward

  • In recent months, we have been conducting extensive trials to test the transportation of salmon using our innovative tubs. Ensuring optimal quality has been our top priority throughout this process. Our recent tests have focused on using both flake ice and slurry ice to maintain the highest standards of freshness during transit. The goal is to establish a circular transportation system for salmon, where HOG (Head-On-Gutted) fish can be efficiently and sustainably transported from farming sites to processing plants across Europe, reducing emissions and costs while maintaining exceptional quality. #QualityTransport #SustainableSeafood #Aquaculture #Salmon

We introduced the new ECO tub at the IceFish Exhibition in September, and since then, Sæplast has been manufacturing these innovative tubs for us. The ECO tubs are lighter, weighing 42 kg instead of the previous 50 kg, yet they retain the same strength and durability. What does ECO mean? It represents our commitment to sustainability: the lighter design requires less virgin material, and each tub is produced using 100% renewable energy at Saeplast's factory in Iceland. Made from 100% PE plastic, these tubs are fully recyclable at the end of their 12-15 year lifespan. #Fishingindustry #Sustainablefishing #Innovation #CircularEconomy #FishingInnovation #Durability

  • The 2024 conference agenda is packed with live talks and discussions focused on the fisheries management system. Each year, the conference introduces a new theme that guides the seminars, and this year’s title, The Fisheries Management System – So Much More Than Just a Quota!, makes it clear where the spotlight will be.
