Les kronikken i Dagens Næringsliv her: https://lnkd.in/dfGu7c_C

I had the great pleasure attend the Finance Day at COP 16 today to speak on the urgent need for financial flows to align with biodiversity goals. The Global Biodiversity Framework provided clear marching order to finance sector and many of us have responded with concrete actions since COP 15. This is clearly reflected in the number of initiatives on nature that has been established over the past years, such Nature Action 100 and TNFD just to mention a few. However, voluntary action is not enough. We need to fuel these actions and ambitions with strong policy responses and governmental initiatives. Finance fuels the global economy, and now it must also fuel the protection and restoration of nature. Thank you for fruitful discussions and to my fellow panelists. Participated in a panel on how investors are integrating nature and biodiversity issues into risk management frameworks and stewardship practices. In nature issues I believe we must take a systemic approach, engage with governments on policies and work collaboratively on stewardship Thank you to UN PRI and United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) FI for this networking event

Arrived in Cali and COP16. I had the privilege to listen to civil society representatives yesterday. Consulting with local communities is critical to succeed with sustainable action on the ground. Local efforts must be supported by both governments, companies and investors Thank you to Rodrigo Botero and the Colombian Environmental organization FCDS, who organized the lunch, and the Norwegian Embassy in Bogota for setting this up. On my way to Cali and COP16. Yesterday I flew over the Colombian Amazon in a small aircraft to watch illegal deforestation in the national park and protected areas close to the parks. Beautiful forests with huge areas illegally cut and cleared to become cattle farms and clearings where the light green colour of Coca is clearly visible. The lack of enforcement of existing regulations is shocking. It is complex to resolve but at least three issues must be addressed 1) further dialogue with local guerrilla groups controlling some of these territories 2) consistent presence of the government to provide services to local communities 3) track money flow to identify investors behind deforestation Thank you to Rodrigo Botero and the Colombian Environmental organization FCDS, who organized the trip and the Norwegian Embassy in Bogota, Nils Martin Gunneng Finance for Biodiversity #COP16

🌿 Launching our 2024 Climate and Nature Report! As the United Nations Biodiversity Conference (#COP16) kicks off in Cali, Colombia, we are proud to unveil our 2024 Climate and Nature Report. The interconnectedness of nature loss and climate change poses significant risks to the global economy and society. Climate change is a key driver of biodiversity loss, while biodiversity and ecosystems play a crucial role in mitigating and adapting to climate impacts. Because these challenges are intertwined, our response must be too. To align financial flows with the targets set by the Paris Agreement and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, we need to approach nature and climate holistically. As a Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) Early Adopter, we are committed to align our disclosures with the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) from the reporting year 2024. We've already started implementing the TNFD methodology in our portfolios to better understand nature-related risks and opportunities, and we want to share our progress so far. Our first joint Climate and Nature Report, covers the year 2023 and outlines how we integrate climate and nature considerations into our investment decisions and risk management. This report follows the common structure of the FSB Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and TNFD, while also incorporating TNFD's additional core disclosures and metrics. We acknowledge that addressing nature-related data is a challenge for both financial institutions and companies. While there's much work ahead to fully meet TNFD's recommendations, we believe in learning by doing. Producing this report has offered valuable insights into areas where we can improve, and we hope that by sharing our progress, we can foster mutual learning with other stakeholders.
