Kaipātiki Project EcoHub – Public Architecture Award Winner Te Kāhui Whaihanga NZ Institute of Architects Auckland Architecture Awards
“Evocative of the welcoming and democratic refuge of a sophisticated tramping hut, this red beacon serves as a flexible office, classroom and community gathering space. Nestled into a rich and plentiful landscape, the modest form belies the complexity of thought underpinning the design and construction, which incorporates five of the seven Living Building Challenge Petals. This treasured and thriving space speaks with authenticity to the environmental imperatives of the community it serves.” – Award Citation. Beginning in 2017 as a “Council Renewal” project to replace a 1970’s former kindergarten that the Kaipatiki Project had occupied for almost 20 years, it has been incredibly gratifying to design this purpose built community hub Environment Centre for anchor tenant the Kaipatiki Project.
Congratulations to our design team, clients and project partners!
