It was a wonderful night at the HRNZ Awards 2025, and Omexom New Zealand (Electrix) was excited to be present as a finalist for the Building Sustainability category, specifically: Online Market Place - an online flea market where we turn one staff's unwanted items into another's treasure! Post-renovations furniture re-homing - finding new homes for our still good condition office furniture, which went to other offices/depots/sites, staff's homes and to our non-profit partners, and Get Connected - Refurbishing a number of end-of-business-life laptops and extending their usefulness by gifting them to students at our supported schools While we didn’t win, we were honoured to have been selected as a finalist amongst amazing company! Meet JAENELLE, Senior Health Safety and Environment Advisor for the Infrastructure Services Perimeter of Omexom New Zealand (Electrix).  She primarily assists with health and safety related to the Private Networks and Industrial Water Solutions Business Units within Infrastructure Services. This has led Jaenelle to work for diverse clients, such as the City Rail Link Ltd, Fonterra, Auckland City Hospital, Watercare Services Limited and Auckland International Airport.  She enjoys the variety and complexity of the work and finds it rewarding helping the team achieve the energy transition for New Zealand. 🤖 Rise of the machines... Yesterday’s sci-fi dreams are now today’s reality as drones are deployed for many uses, from fighting fires to search and rescue. In Omexom New Zealand (Electrix), drones have taken over the difficult, time-consuming and sometimes risky task of inspecting our clients’ network assets. Not only do drones allow us to perform quicker visual and sometimes beyond visual (IR, UV, LIDAR) inspections, they make it possible to check sites from previously difficult to access perspectives, safely and in less time. This is done without sacrificing safety and attention to detail, with high resolution data collected in a three-dimensional workspace. These workhorses now help to inform maintenance and prevention schedules, as well as enhance asset replacement and fault avoidance. Omexom uses drones to free up labour, reduce costs, accidents, faults and outages, and to simplify previously complex tasks, while making documentation and reports more insightful and complete. Learn from our North Island Chief Drone Pilot GORDON how Omexom utilises drones to perform our inspection tasks.
