🌙🚀 Telespazio and Thales Alenia Space sign contract for ESA’s Moonlight program Telespazio and Thales Alenia Space have signed a contract to design and develop the Navigation System and satellite navigation infrastructure for ESA’s Moonlight program. As prime contractor of Moonlight programme, Telespazio leads the development of this ambitious initiative that will provide advanced navigation and communication services in lunar orbit. 🔹 Thales Alenia Space will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying the first lunar navigation satellite system, supporting precise and autonomous Moon landings, as well as high-speed, low-latency communications between Earth and the Moon. 📡 On September 11-12, #Telespazio hosted two key events at the #Fucino Space Centre: the 26th EU SatCom Market Joint Procurement Arrangement Meeting and the 8th EU SatCom Market Event. These gatherings brought together EU defense ministries, institutional agencies, and industry partners to discuss the latest advancements in satellite communications (#SatCom) and their growing significance for European defense and security. From GEO, MEO, and LEO satellite technologies to fixed and mobile communication solutions, the discussions emphasized the importance of stronger collaboration between governments and industry to enhance Europe’s space capabilities. 🌍 It is World Desertification & Drought Day   #Desertification is the ultimate result of #land degradation processes, driven by factors like wildfires 🔥 , poor land & water management 🌊 , urban expansion 🏙 , and more. Each of these alone may not lead to land degradation, but when several interact together in vulnerable locations the stress on our land resources can become excessive. By monitoring the contributing factors, #CLMS helps identify where human-induced land change may potentially lead to land degradation. This is expressed as the so-called ‘Convergence of Evidence’. Together with SDG indicator 15.3.1, which tracks already degraded land, it enables us to prioritise interventions and manage our land responsibly. This is crucial for achieving the UN's 2030 sustainability goals.
