Yesterday, at the European Space Conference in Brussels, our COO Giuseppe Aurilio joined the panel "Scenarios for Sustainable and Autonomous European Space Exploration to the Moon and Beyond" to discuss how Europe is preparing for long-term lunar exploration. 🔹 Enter Moonlight: Europe’s Lunar System Moonlight, the European Space Agency’s program, is set to provide lunar connectivity and navigation services. With a dedicated constellation of satellites, it will provide: ✅ High-speed, low-latency communication ✅ Precise navigation for autonomous landings & surface mobility ✅To support a stable presence on the Moon. As missions increase in number and complexity - especially in the South Pole region - having a reliable, interoperable infrastructure, like Moonlight, capable to provide real-time, continuos connectivity and navigation services will be crucial. 🔹 The Lunar Economy: What’s Next? With 400 missions forecasted in the next two decades, the Moon is set to become a new frontier for both institutional and commercial ventures. While early missions will be driven by institutional players, we expect a shift from the mid-2030s, with private players missions increasing significantly. That’s why Telespazio is working to ensure Moonlight remains scalable, interoperable, and ready to serve a global customer base. 🔹 From ‘Silver’ to ‘Gold’ in Space Exploration How do we take lunar exploration to the next level? Returning to the Moon’s surface will be the game-changer, paving the way for: ➡️Lunar construction ➡️On-site resource utilization ➡️Work in Microgravity 🌍 The journey is just beginning. Europe has the opportunity to be an active player of this journey, through collaboration, innovation, and strategic partnerships. #Moonlight #SpaceExploration #LunarEconomy Leonardo Space | Thales Alenia Space | e-GEOS

From 25-29 November, the #INTEGRAL demo week was held simultaneously at the Aerospace Operations Command (#COA) of the Italian Air Force (Aeronautica Militare) in Poggio Renatico, Italy, and the Torrejon Air Base in Madrid, Spain. This event, attended by representatives from the Ministries of Defence of Italy, France, Spain, Germany, and Denmark, marked the first interoperability test between two European military Space Situational Awareness (#SSA) centres, representing a key milestone for European #defence. The INTEGRAL (Innovative and Interoperable Technologies for Space Global Recognition and Alert) project demonstrated its role in strengthening military SSA capabilities, fostering collaboration among EU defence stakeholders, and advancing the competitiveness, autonomy, and #innovation of Europe’s defence industry. It showcased enhanced national SSA command and control capabilities, including improved detection, tracking, and characterization of space objects. These advancements enrich the Recognized Space Picture (#RSP) and safeguard space assets from potential threats. Telespazio has played a key role in the Consortium and coherently with its European multi-domestic nature, it was involved in INTEGRAL through three legal entities, in Italy, Germany and France. Telespazio has been responsible for the specification, design, and prototyping of key Space Intelligence services (Pattern of Life, Spawning, Warning), for the characterization of Resident Space Objects, and of the interfaces with commercial services and space-based sensors. Furthermore, it has conducted the security assessment of the platform and contributed to the functionalities for collaboration and sharing of information between INTEGRAL Nodes. Telespazio France has conducted the operational requirements and CONOPS definition for the #SSN (Space Surveillance Network) part of the project. Telespazio Germany specified, designed, and implemented a prototype for the interface between an INTEGRAL node and a national SSA Centre. Moreover, it coordinated the activities carried out for the INTEGRAL capability demonstration. INTEGRAL has laid the foundation for #EMISSARY (European Military Integrated Space Situational Awareness and Recognition Capability), a project coordinated by Leonardo and set to launch in 2025. EMISSARY aims to integrate the largest set of technologies into an initial deployable form, enabling their certification and exploitation within Europe’s first multilateral military SSA value chain. Telespazio will play a significant role also in #EMISSARY, continuing on the development and evolution of Space Intelligence activities and Network and Security tasks. This project has received funding from the European Defence Industrial Development Programme (EDIDP) under grant agreement No EDIDP-SSAEW-SC2-2020-088-INTEGRAL.
