🇨🇳 Estimates from the World Health Organization show that 18% of women have disability compared to only 14.2% of men. Persons with disabilities suffer from ableism and stigmatization in all aspects of life, contributing to their poorer physical and mental health. In addition, due to the limitations on daily functions than other persons, persons with disabilities often rely on caregivers for daily life. Gender inequalities affect not only the health outcomes of women with disabilities, but also the health outcomes of female caregiver. A BMC Public Health study in China has found that long-term care insurance can significantly increase self-rated health, reduce depression in women, reduce chronic diseases in female caregivers, and reduce depression in female non-recipients and female non-caregivers. There was a more pronounced improvement in health outcomes among women in the west and northeast and women in rural village. Care for carers is critical, especially given the health and care sector gender pay gap and the need for greater economic empowerment. #femtechassociationasia #femtech #womenshealth #insurance #study #research #disability #china #chronicdisease https://lnkd.in/g9HBM6hf

Two countries in Asia and how each is managing the potential population crisis... 🇨🇳 CREATE PROGRAMS AND POLICIES THAT ENCOURAGE MORE BABIES In #China, the #government created a college degree program in #matrimony, which includes a #curriculum centered around #wedding planning, matchmaking services, and #marriage. The country, which had a one-child policy in place from 1980-2016, is just now approaching a #fertility rate of 1.0. At its current rate, the country is positioned to lose half of its population by the end of the century. This month, China floated the idea of making it easier for couples to get married with plans to no longer require couples to register at their #household locations. The government is also attempting to make divorce more difficult by establishing a 30-day “cooling-off period” before divorce can proceed. 🇸🇬 FOCUS ON HEALTHSPAN IN AGING POPULATIONS Singapore announced its plans to raise the retirement age to 64 by 2026 and then to 65 by 2030. In addition, re-employment opportunities for older workers will increase to 69 by 2026 and 70 by 2030. Either way, there are femtech solutions that can help! From reproductive health and fertility or women's healthy aging and longevity, both examples can leverage technology to provide accessible solutions to more citizens. #femtechassociationasia #femtech #womenshealth https://lnkd.in/gSk9KKx7
