Helping patients get back on track quicker is what our new Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) ward is designed to do. Here, patients recover faster by moving, eating and taking oral nutrition earlier than usual after major surgeries. Challenging the norms of conventional recovery settings, the ERAS ward is designed alike to a co-living space where patients are encouraged to walk, gather, socialise, and cheer each other on. This innovation is an extension of the ERAS programme, which was first implemented by a multi-disciplinary team of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and nutritionists to minimise patients’ stress before operations and promote faster well-being thereafter. Learn more about the ERAS ward from our reels and news coverage at: - CNA: https://lnkd.in/gzkNCnCZ - The Straits Times: https://lnkd.in/g2ZKgn9b

The roles and responsibilities of our Patient Service Associates (PSA) go beyond just providing administrative support for our patients and staff. They play a key role in ensuring the smooth admission and discharge of patients, running of clinics, and also perform simple clinical duties - relieving some load from our medical professionals. Happy to have hosted the learners from Generation Singapore as they explored the life of our PSAs here in TTSH!

Learning goes far beyond the traditional classroom! As part of our Patient Service Associate (PSA) curriculum, our learners have the unique opportunity to visit various healthcare organisations. These field observations allow them to experience firsthand the work environment and gain insight into the daily life of a PSA. A special thank you to the management and staff at Tan Tock Seng Hospital for providing our PSA Cohort 2 learners with an enriching and eye-opening field trip last week. Today, we join TTSH in celebrating PSA Day and recognising all the healthcare heroes who dedicate their lives to patient care! If you know of any healthcare organisation seeking to hire patient service associates, reach out to our Placement Specialist, Shair Ling Han #fieldtrip #healthcare #tantockseng #patientservice

𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐇𝐞𝐫: 𝐋𝐚𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 Last Friday, we had the honour of launching the annual National Breast Cancer Awareness Month campaign. Themed ‘Empower Her’, this year’s campaign highlights on the importance of early and regular breast screening – and the role that individuals can play to support the women in their lives in their breast cancer journey. Husbands, children, colleagues or friends can encourage women to get screened, and walk through the journey alongside them should they be diagnosed with breast cancer. We were privileged to have Ms Jane Ittogi, First Lady of Singapore, grace the event – lending her support and solidarity in our fight against breast cancer. The highlight of the afternoon was an inspiring fashion show featuring twelve brave breast cancer survivors. Named ‘Walk of Resilience: Garden of Flowers’, our survivor-models blossomed and confidently strutted down the runway – donned in apparel by Esse, with their hair and makeup done by Institute of Technical Education Beauty Artistry students and Shunji Matsuo. Alongside our partners Breast Cancer Foundation, Health Promotion Board, National University Cancer Institute, Singapore, Singapore Cancer Society and SingHealth – we welcome you to join us for a packed month filled with activities, and learn more about breast cancer and how you can do your part. Our Patient Service Associates are the first people that you will meet during your hospital visit, and possibly the last prior to leaving. They play an important role in helping our patients and caregivers in the clinics and wards, ensuring them that their visit of the day is smooth. In the hospital, our PSAs are essential support to many of us to deliver good patient care, from assisting our doctors in the clinics to performing clinical management duties. Yesterday, we celebrated this group of healthcare workers for their dedication and passion to serve our patients - with a smile on their faces, without fail. Happy PSA Day! 🎉🎉

However, lesser women are stepping forward and going for mammogram screenings in the past two years. It is important that women feel supported in their breast cancer journey – to get screened, and go through the necessary treatment if diagnosed. This October, together with Breast Cancer Foundation, Health Promotion Board, National University Cancer Institute, Singapore, Singapore Cancer Society and SingHealth, more than 20 nation-wide activities have been planned out as we celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month, including a free mobile mammobus screening at popular shopping malls in Singapore (for eligible individuals). Find out more at https://for.sg/nbcam2024 Together, let’s #EmpowerHer and be #ByHerSide as we keep breast cancer at bay 💪

Foot diseases screening for patients living with diabetes is critical as early detection and intervention can save a toe or foot. Our Project DEFEND team, led by podiatrists and endocrinologists, have pioneered a revolutionary Virtual Reality (VR) training module to equip more healthcare professionals with essential DFS skills. Through this innovative VR training module, our team is empowering healthcare professionals to sharpen their skills anytime, anywhere, ensuring they are prepared to meet the rising demand for diabetic care. This initiative not only enhances early detection and timely intervention but also allows podiatrists to focus on more complex cases. Together, we're future-proofing diabetes care—one step at a time.
