The National Police of Ukraine continues to implement accessibility principles in its work. With support from UNDP in Ukraine and funding from the Japan - The Government of Japan, a training session, "Accessibility of Public Spaces for People with Reduced Mobility", was held for representatives of the National Police on how to assess buildings for accessibility for people with disabilities and people with reduced mobility. Over three days, participants learned to: ✅ identify common accessibility barriers that hinder mobility; ✅ properly evaluate the accessibility of buildings; ✅ develop recommendations to make spaces more inclusive and comfortable for everyone. 🎓 Webinar for representatives of local authorities on web accessibility More than 100 local government employees from all over the country studied how to create accessible content online at a training session held by the Digital Accessibility Competence Centre. During the meeting, the trainees learned: 🖊️ What digital accessibility is, and what myths prevent its implementation; 🖊️ What key accessibility requirements exist, and how to apply them; 🖊️ How Ukraine regulates the field, and what tools can help check the accessibility of products; 🖊️ What typical mistakes are made, and how to easily fix them. The Competence Centre is part of the Diia state enterprise, which began operating at the end of 2024. It is the first national institution to oversee digital accessibility in the country. Its team will offer consultations to other state bodies, analyse the accessibility of state websites, and train public servants. Together with the Ministry of Digital Transformation, UNDP in Ukraine has already trained over 2,000 public servants from all over the country in the basics of digital accessibility. We’re striving to get as many people as possible to understand the importance of web accessibility, and to be able to apply its principles in practice. And you can learn more about web accessibility too! A short online course on the Diia.Osvita platform is open, free of charge, to everyone! 👉 https://lnkd.in/eACNK2sG 📍 The webinar “Public websites without barriers. Accessibility in the spotlight” was organised in cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine as part of the DIA Support project, which is implemented by UNDP in Ukraine with the support of Sweden. "I believe that the strength of Ukrainian women lies in our resilience, a unique resilience. Despite the stereotype that women are supposedly more emotional, we demonstrate that despite all the challenges we are currently facing — challenges that Ukrainians as a whole are enduring, especially those caused by Russia’s full-scale invasion — we continue to do our work," says Svitlana Slipchenko, Deputy Executive Director at VoxUkraine. Svitlana entered the field of media literacy by chance. Seven years ago, with a degree in economics, she was looking for a job in her field when she came across a vacancy at Vox Ukraine. The organization was seeking an analyst to verify economic data — exactly what she had studied at university. However, in practice, her work turned out to be fact-checking politicians’ statements, many of which were related to the economy. As Vox Ukraine evolved, so did Svitlana. Over the years, the organization expanded its activities: tackling disinformation, debunking fakes, and explaining complex topics in simple terms. She transitioned from economic fact-checking to fighting disinformation, becoming one of the leading experts in the field. 🔹 What’s the most absurd fake she has encountered in her work? 🔹 Has she ever fallen for a fake herself? 🔹 What are the three basic media literacy rules everyone should know? Find out in her interview as part of the "Her Voice – Her Power" campaign, implemented by UNDP in Ukraine in partnership with the Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, with financial support from the Japan - The Government of Japan . #HerVoiceHerPower #IWD2025

Сontinue supporting the development of criminal justice in Ukraine grounded in the values of respect for human rights. During the training program “Investigative Interview: Basic,” justice professionals learned how to manage prejudices, establish psychological contact, conduct effective conversations, and handle human memory responsibly — without distortion. Organized by JustGroup with support from UNDP and the Government of Japan, the training engaged detectives from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and prosecutors from the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office. 💬 “Investigative interviewing is a modern, systematic global standard for conducting interrogations. However, it is not only a technique but also a philosophy that requires distancing oneself from bias and preconceptions to focus on the interview outcome. I believe the knowledge you gain here will help you both in your work and personal life,” said Denys Hiulmahomedov, First Deputy Director of NABU, at the program’s opening. With the graduates of this session, more than 50 detectives have now learned about the transformative impact of investigative interviewing. 🤝🏻 The development program was created and implemented by the JustLearn development hub, supported by JustGroup, in partnership with the Training Center for Prosecutors of Ukraine and the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights. It is backed by the Transformational Recovery for Human Security in Ukraine project, funded by the Government of Japan and implemented by UNDP in Ukraine. Photo credit: Anna Putylina
