Yn fusnes technoleg sy’n darparu datrysiadau ap y gellir eu haddasu i gwmnïau yswiriant ceir, bydd y buddsoddiad diweddar yn galluogi Driverly i dyfu ei sylfaen cwsmeriaid yn y flwyddyn i ddod, gan ddarparu hyd yn oed mwy o fusnes i’w ap a datblygu ei dechnoleg berchnogol. Cynlluniwyd Driverly yn wreiddiol i helpu gyrwyr ifanc i gael yswiriant car yn haws, gan ddefnyddio data ar yrwyr unigol i leihau eu costau yswiriant. Ers hynny, mae'r busnes wedi symud i fodel B2B, gan gynnig ei lwyfan y gellir ei addasu i yswirwyr amrywiol. Gall cleientiaid ddiweddaru a theilwra'r system yn gyflym, gan alluogi darparwyr yswiriant i addasu eu apps yn unol ag anghenion cwsmeriaid. ‘Rydym bob amser wedi bod yn awyddus i gadw cydbwysedd da rhwng cadw ffocws ar ein busnes craidd, tra hefyd yn barod i ymateb i ofynion y farchnad,’ esboniodd Armin Kia, Prif Swyddog Gweithredol Driverly. ‘Mae hynny’n dasg bwysig i unrhyw dîm arwain. Driverly have completed a six-figure fundraising round, supported by us, Development Bank of Wales and high-profile Welsh investors. A technology business which provides adaptable app solutions to major car insurance companies, the recent investment will allow Driverly to grow its customer base in the coming year, providing its app even more business and develop its proprietary technology. Driverly was originally designed to help young drivers access car insurance more easily, using data on individual drivers to reduce their insurance costs. Since then, the business has shifted to a B2B model, offering its customisable platform to various insurers. The system can be quickly updated and tailored by clients, enabling insurance providers to adjust their apps according to customer needs. ’We’ve always been keen to keep a fine balance between keeping a focus on our core business, while also being prepared to react to the demands of the market,’ explained Armin Kia, CEO of Driverly. Empowering Women in Angel Investment – A Fantastic Event in Cardiff! Last week, I had the honour of attending the inspiring Women Angels of Wales event in Cardiff—an educational and impactful gathering showcasing the incredible work Women Angel of Wales are doing! The event was led with energy, wit, and insight by Nicola Rylett-Jones FIoL, who championed the importance of more women becoming angel investors. Nicola has worked closely with Jenny Tooth OBE to leverage the UKBAA’s education resources to support more women on their journey as angels. The Development Bank of Wales and Carol Hall playing a an instrumental role in supporting Women Angels of Wales, strengthening the ecosystem and unlocking opportunities for female investors and entrepreneurs. Key Highlights from the Event: 📌 Dr. Jill Jones opened with a powerful reflection on the strides Women Angels of Wales have made in recent months and plans for the future. 📌Geraint Hampson-Jones from RBC Brewin Dolphin spoke about their full suite of investment support, helping Welsh investors grow, while also generously hosting the event. 📌 One of the most insightful sessions was the fireside chat between lead angel investor Sara Boltman and Jill Jones. Sara shared her journey from founder to investor and her investment thesis through Butterfly Data. Key takeaways: 💡 “Be confident about your ambition from the start.” 💡 Sara sold 51% of her company to employees for social impact, ensuring they valued their contributions. 💡 Retaining staff and skills builds a healthy, sustainable business culture. 💡 Investing in people leads to long-term success and aligns business growth with ethical values. 👉 “Don’t be afraid to ask ‘stupid’ questions as a new angel investor.” 👉 Long-term founder-investor relationships are key—investors can support companies beyond capital. Sara also emphasised giving back to Wales’ investment ecosystem through Women Angels of Wales and Tramshed. The group provides practical support—from cash flow forecasting to syndicating investments—forming a “wolf pack of knowledge” to strengthen the network of women investors. It was inspiring to see such ambition, innovation, and collaboration in the room. A huge thank you to Nicola Rylett Jones, Jill Jones, Carol Hall, and the Development Bank of Wales for inviting me along, and showing me what a great community is growing in Wales!
