🌿 TNFD publishes draft guidance on nature transition planning at COP16 Today, we published a discussion paper that sets out draft guidance on the nature of transition planning for corporates and financial institutions developing and disclosing a transition plan in line with the TNFD recommended disclosures. 🔗 Read the paper - https://lnkd.in/gqj7rGiB 🔗 Read the press release - https://lnkd.in/gPHbjj-c The mission of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) is to halt and reverse biodiversity loss by 2030, towards a 2050 vision of a world living in harmony with nature. Delivering the transition implied by this international agreement requires significant changes to business practices across all sectors. As such, a nature transition plan – as defined in the discussion paper – lays out an organisation’s goals, targets, actions, accountability mechanisms and intended resources to respond and contribute to the transition implied by the GBF. Facilitating an integrated approach to transition planning and disclosure, we have built on current market practice for climate transition planning, in particular the work of the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ) and on the recommendations of the Transition Plan Taskforce (TPT) for climate transition plan disclosure. What’s next ❓ We welcome feedback on the approach outlined in this discussion paper by 1 February 2025 from corporates, financial institutions and other interested stakeholders. Based on the feedback received through the consultation, and insights gained through potential pilot testing, the Taskforce will develop final TNFD guidance on nature transition plans that will be published in 2025.

On Wednesday, 23 October, we paused our Anglo American operations globally and gathered to commemorate our Global Safety Day to reflect on Safety, our core value. This year we recommitted to ‘Standing Up for Safety, Together’ – this included the beloved children of our employees, who joined us to share their personal safety messages. We are all safety leaders and must all play our part. Safety is personal and should be owned by each employee, contractor, and visitors at our operations. It is also a responsibility that we must own, share, and do together. When we own safety, we hold ourselves and our colleagues accountable. We have the courage and conviction to do the right and safe thing always. We stop unsafe work – no matter who we are, who is involved, and who is around us. When we share safety, we will learn from our incidents, share our learnings, and avoid repeat incidents. We will look for ways to continually improve our safety standards. Safety is a shared responsibility, and we all must play our part to ensure that we all return home to our families safely, every day. When we do safety, we follow and comply with our processes and procedures because we know they define the safest way to work. We do whatever it takes to keep each other safe because we all have an equal voice when it comes to safety. We are all safety leaders! Let’s continue to honour our commitment to ensure that we all go home safely to our loved ones. Thank you to the Northern Cape Inspectorate of Mines and Organised Labour Representatives for standing up for safety together with us! Remember, SAFETY IS PERSONAL! #SafetyIsPersonal #GSD24 #GlobalSafetyDay #StandUpForSafety

Australian champions! Moranbah North's mines rescue team is the best in the country after winning the Australian Underground Coal Mines Rescue competition yesterday. They went one better than last year, after being narrowly pipped by our Grosvenor team in 2023. Four teams from NSW and four from Queensland battled it out over a series of gruelling challenges. The MG3 Appin team (NSW) came runners-up, and third went to Centennial Coal’s Springvale team (NSW). An amazing result. Queensland Resources Council Queensland Mines Rescue Service

Today we have published our Q3 production report which can be viewed here: https://lnkd.in/ebju4JT5 Highlights include: ✅ Copper production is on track to meet full year guidance in both Chile and Peru. ✅ In iron ore, production was 2% higher as Minas-Rio achieved a record third-quarter performance reflecting enhanced operational stability. ✅ Nickel production increased by 6% largely due to operational improvements at Barro Alto. Production guidance increased to 38,000-39,000 tonnes, lowering the unit cost guidance to c.530 c/lb. ✅ Ongoing stability at the PGM processing assets has enabled an increase in full year refined PGM production guidance to 3.7–3.9 million ounces.

A real story with real impact this Global Safety Day. Thank you to Tom Corfield who spoke to our teams about the importance of Standing up for Safety, even when it doesn’t feel comfortable. Tom said that if he had spoken out about how he felt about unsafe work, he would still have his eyesight today. #ThinkTom #standupforsafety #GlobalSafetyDay #PPE

Today and every day, we Stand Up for Safety Together! I had the privilege of joining my fellow board members and colleagues to celebrate our Global Safety Day. This year’s theme, “Stand up for safety, together,” underscores that safety is personal and is at the heart of everything we do. For me, this day is particularly significant as it provides an opportunity to participate in interactive experiences, engage with teams, learn practical and innovative safety practices, and collaborate with everyone towards our common goal of achieving zero harm. My commitment is to ensure that everyone at Anglo American South Africa Platinum returns home safely each day and that we create a physically, psychologicaly and mentally safe environment. We also take this moment to remember those we’ve lost in work related incidents, reinforcing that no one should come to work fearing they might not return to their loved ones. Let’s continue to make safety our top priority, together. #GlobalSafetyDay #StandUpForSafety #SafetyFirst #Teamwork #AngloAmericanPlatinum
