Empowering communities to create a positive change for the planet| Sustainable ambassador | Green events coordinator
I had the absolute pleasure on Friday of hosting a CPD session (Art in Nature) for educators at Blakesley Hall organised by Birmingham Museum Trust. A beautiful day of sharing my love for the planet through art. Pigments, pressed flowers and eco dyeing were a few subjects we covered but we also created wild weaving squares and made eco bricks perfect for solitary bees. Birmingham Museums Trust

The sun is shining & flags are flying high on Colmore Row this week as we celebrate the arrival of the outdoor exhibition ‘Benjamin Zephaniah – The Brighter Flame’. ☀️ This exhibition has been funded by Colmore BID and is taking place between 5-31 July. Flags designed in his memory fly high on Colmore Row, the heart of Birmingham. Created with the support and acknowledgment of the Zephaniah family, the exhibition will feature more than 20 specially curated artworks displayed in cabinets located in Victoria Square, next to the fountains and Birmingham Town Hall. To find out more, visit 👉 https://lnkd.in/gaxgSzrk. In Pursuit of Repetitive Beats is a euphoric, interactive VR adventure that will transport you to 1989 during the days of the Acid House movement. It will be at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery from 19th July - 1st Sept. https://lnkd.in/exA4-zKW

We're delighted to announce that we've finalised the cohort of organisations for our Anti-racist Museums Programme, and the first programmed session will take place tomorrow, 4 June 🙌 We're excited to get to work with: • Bristol Museum & Art Gallery • Birmingham Museums Trust • Fulham Palace Trust • Migration Museum • Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales • Museums and Galleries Edinburgh The programme presents an opportunity to create meaningful change in the UK museum sector through organisational and professional development. It's our hope that it will create a thriving network of museums and leaders that are committed to personal and organisational change; collaboration and peer learning; and being at the forefront of anti-racist practice in UK museums.

Today we museum directors of the UK head to parliament to advocate for UK museums. Zak Mensah and I will be representing Birmingham Museums Trust and explaining how much regional museums can and do deliver for communities, the economy and human flourishing. Regional museums are in dire straits and still delivering but it's time to find a new sustainable way to fund culture. My childhood heroine Lady Floella Benjamin should be there. I will try to stay cool about that. https://lnkd.in/euDSRRGe
