  • ⚡ We were delighted to kick off our 2025 events last night with 'Our Future to Net Zero and Beyond' a panel and networking event kindly hosted by Related Argent. ⚡   We heard from David Partridge and Jamie Quinn about their work developing the Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard, which will be able to identify and verify buildings as net zero with a single, agreed set of performance indicators, as well as the work Related Argent is doing to ensure they are at the forefront of environmentally conscious real estate.   They were then joined by Mat Lown from TFT and Mathilde Francois-Downey from Cushman & Wakefield who spoke passionately about everything from what net zero means to them to how the political environment will affect the path to net zero.   ✨ Thank you so much to everyone who attended, and a huge thank you to BPF Futures corporate contacts Harrison Quinn and Amelia Helaith for chairing the panel and organising the event! ✨

💡Check out our latest BPF Spotlight💡   This week, we caught up with BPF Assistant Director of Policy Rob Wall to hear what our Development Committee has been working on over the past year. From tackling public-private partnerships to shaping the future of new towns, it’s been a busy year for the committee. Take it away, Rob:   ❓What’s the role of the BPF Development Committee?   🗣️ In a nutshell, the role of the committee is to champion good development across the UK. We share best practices with our members and the wider industry, and work with policymakers, both national and local, to help tackle the big challenges developers face.   ❓ Who’s involved?   🗣️ It’s a mix of investors, developers, property companies, consultants and real estate agents – so we’re definitely not short for different perspectives in the room! We’ve also brought in a couple of BPF Futures members to make sure the next generation of property professionals has a voice in shaping policy.   ❓ What’s the committee been up to over the last year?   🗣️ Last year was a busy year for the committee. We recently published our annual report, which covers some of our biggest projects from 2024. We’ve been focused on public-private partnerships, sharing best practices on how to build strong local and regional relationships.    We’ve also been leading the BPF’s work on new towns, making sure our members’ insights shape the conversation. On top of that, committee members have played a big role in shaping the BPF’s policy work and have spoken at a number of industry events and webinars, sharing their experiences and expertise.   ❓ Looking ahead - what’s coming up over the next 6-12 months?   🗣️ We’re currently setting out our workplan for the year ahead and recently held a workshop with members to set our priorities. Our work on public-private partnerships will keep going strong, but we’ve also got some exciting new projects in the pipeline - so watch this space!

  •  🚀 Join the BPF Futures Advisory Board and help shape our community while developing your own skills 🚀 Board Member for Scotland Angus Lutton told us more about why he joined and his experience on the Board:      🗣️ “Joining the BPF Futures Board has been fantastic in helping further my career and given me rare experiences that have been invaluable to my progress in the industry. The BPF Futures Board has provided a fantastic platform to build my network across the UK, whilst getting the opportunity to host events across Scotland’s best new developments and existing buildings.     “It has also given me the opportunity to really increase my profile in the real estate industry, such as hosting a panel at the annual SPF conference in 2023 and then sitting on a panel at the conference in 2024. Whilst it has allowed me to build a great network of people at my level in the industry, it has also given me great exposure to people at all levels and sectors in the real estate market, many of whom I would not have met without being on the BPF Futures Board.     “The BPF Futures Board is at a really exciting stage as we continue to try and grow the membership year on year and add more fantastic events to the calendar. Membership in Scotland has grown from 39 futures members to over 283 members since Emily Brodie, Iain Smith and I joined, and by joining the Board now, you’ll be able to help grow this brilliant network of young professionals further.    “Being on the Board means attending monthly meetings, brainstorming fresh and exciting event ideas and so much more! What I really value about the Board is how the BPF empowers Futures to take the lead in shaping what comes next. It’s a genuine opportunity to make a real impact on the direction of the network. “Before joining, I had never been part of anything like this, and it’s been an incredible experience to learn what goes into building and growing such a vibrant and dynamic community.” 🔗 Interested?
