Each month, our Together for Good fund awards £500 to a charity or organisation's project which benefits the local area 💙 Since 2018, we have given around £36,000 towards 72 local causes. Last year, we helped fund new wheelchair clamps for a community transport service, supported a carers support service, and helped a local park to become more wildlife friendly. Read all about the fund, the amazing projects we've supported and apply to be in the draw this year ▶️ https://lnkd.in/eAZr-pDW

Almost 1 in 2 people will be affected by dementia in their lifetime. Our customer teams climbed aboard the ‘dementia bus’ to help them better understand the experiences of people living with dementia and how we can support them 💙 For any of our customers who suffer from dementia, have additional needs or require some extra support, registering for our free Priority Services Register means we can tailor our services to meet your needs. Read all about our colleague Emma's experience on the bus: “At first. I stayed glued to the spot, too scared to move around for fear of doing something wrong, breaking something, or bumping into someone…..” https://lnkd.in/eVfP27gQ

St Peter's Hospice, Bristol found this fascinating new piece of Bristol Water history. A valuation from 1847 of water rent payments from the Sion Springs (Hotwells), which was used to supply drinking water to Clifton. The Bristol Waterworks (as we were known then) had won the parliamentary battle to bring fresh water from the Mendips to the whole city, but had to pay off the existing supply. The cost of c£1200 is equivalent to c£200,000 today!
St Peter's Hospice in Bristol found this incredible invoice to Bristol Water from 1847 in a donation through a house clearance. It's a valuation by Sam Capper on the value of water rent payments from the Sion Spring (Hotwells) which was used to supply Clifton. The Bristol Waterworks had won the parliamentary battle to bring fresh water in from the Mendips to supply the whole city the year before, but had to pay off the existing supply (which thanks to Dr William Budd, they believed was helping to spread Cholera, before John Snow had written up his findings in 1849). The cost of c£1,200 is equivalent to c£200,000 today. It's an important new piece of #hydrosocialcontract history to add to the archives #throwbackthursday Chad Staddon

Merry Christmas from all of us at Bristol Water 🎄🎅 While most of us are tucking into turkey and mince pies today, our operational teams will be hard at work, making sure the water keeps flowing. A big thanks to all our amazing colleagues - the unsung heroes of the festive season. This year we’ve celebrated the ‘12 Days of Bris-mas’ highlighting everything we do at Bristol Water, from supporting our most vulnerable customers with the Priority Service Register and affordability schemes, to repairing leaks. You can check out the full video on our website https://lnkd.in/ehgSeWSY The amazing vocals are done by Raffael in our Health and Safety team. A HUGE thank you to Raff for bringing the song to life! Don’t forget to turn on your sound for the full Bris-mas experience 🔊

With more investment than ever before, we can continue to transform what we do for customers and communities.” “For me, while today's news is about investment, the real story is about those who will deliver this change, the amazing people I work with, the generations of families that have served their communities in the sector for over hundreds of years and will continue to do so for the next 100 years.” Susan Davy.
