  • Two years in the making! Our refurbishment work at Shepton Mallet Water Recycling Centre is nearing completion ✅ The £15 million investment will enhance sewage treatment and help further protect the River Sheppey.  New equipment has been installed and existing infrastructure upgraded to help us safeguard the local river by removing more pollutants like ammonia and phosphorus during the treatment process. These improvements will ensure the site can continue to meet the highest environmental standards. #investment #water #sewerage #environment #improvements #infrastructure #sheptonmallet #waterrecyclingcentre #wessexwater

  • Our £35 million investment to expand the water recycling centre at Saltford has reached an important milestone. Throughout 2024, our team on site has made significant progress, including building a 100-metre-long activated sludge treatment plant. So far, we have moved over 300,000 tonnes of earth and by the end of January 2025 more than 4,500 cubic metres of concrete will have been poured. We are also testing the new structures with more than 12 million litres of reused effluent, equivalent to filling five Olympic-sized swimming pools. The two-year construction will boost the capacity of the site to treat sewage from a growing population of the city of Bath and the surrounding area. #investment #water #sewerage #environment #improvements #infrastructure #saltford #waterrecyclingcentre #wessexwater

Thank you to everybody that attended the official launch of Brabazon and YTL Arena Bristol. London at Royal Lancaster Hotel. We are making huge strides in transforming one of the largest brownfield sites in Bristol to a place to work, live and play. Huge honour to have Malaysia Prime Minister Anwar Bin Ibrahim who said a new trade deal between the UK and Malaysia represents a "golden opportunity". Baroness Gustafsson OBE, minister for investment, said "YTL's commitment is a huge vote of confidence in the UK". "Seeing global investors put billions in the UK economy shows we are an investment destination of choice”. Proud to be part of the team making history

  • Great news for Exmoor National Park! Over £450,000 is being invested in sewer revitalisation to protect this beautiful landscape straddling Somerset and Devon. Work is wrapping up to renovate the local sewer network to prevent pollution and flooding, using innovative 'no-dig' techniques for a quicker, less disruptive process. ✨ The upgraded pipes will ensure a reliable service and protected environment for years to come. We’re planning to invest nearly £450 million between 2025 and 2030 to improve storm overflows across the region and progressively eliminate the discharge of untreated sewage into rivers and the sea. • Our construction team has been enjoying the fruits of their labour after winning two Green Apple Environment Awards for our recent project in Saltford 🍏🍏 The £9 million investment included the construction of a new bridge and access road to our local water recycling centre. The awards recognise our conservation efforts and the measures taken to protect wildlife, habitats and biodiversity as part of the project. An ‘Ecological Wetland Scrape’ has been constructed to provide new habitat for amphibians, invertebrates, mammals and wetland birds. It includes three new ponds which allow native plants – and the animals that rely on them – to naturally establish. The new access to our water recycling centre will enable a £35 million expansion and upgrade of the site, meaning we will be able to treat more than 800 litres of wastewater per second – around a 40 per cent increase on current flows – to help meet increasing demands. • We’re pleased to announce that we have once again retained the Customer Service Excellence quality mark – an award we first received back in 1996! 🎉 Our customers are at the very heart of our business and we are proud to be consistently rated as one of the top water and sewerage companies for service, efficiency and standards. We’re always striving to be better and do even more, which is why each year we undergo this independent assessment to help us ensure we are continuing to improve and delivering services that put our customers at the core of what we do. The latest review recognises our industry-leading support for people in vulnerable circumstances, with our tailored affordability tariffs helping thousands of customers with bill payments in the last year alone. The assessment noted that we were rated second highest in the UK Customer Satisfaction Index list of 20 most improved organisations and third in the entire utilities sector on ‘customer satisfaction and trust’. The report also recognised that we deliver the highest standards of drinking water – measured by the Drinking Water Inspectorate’s quality compliance index – and we’re a top performer in regulator Ofwat’s measure of customer experience.
