I attended a fantastic British Council for Offices presentation on the Guide to Fit-Out update this morning. Key takeaways include: The main drivers of change, as some may expect, are climate, COVID, hybrid working, and technology evolution. With architecture and interiors having an increased attention on human-centric, agile work spaces, focused on brand identity, new ways of working, and diversity/inclusion to attract and retain talent. I’m particularly interested in the smart technology, engineering services, and vertical transport sections of the guide. As someone heavily involved in designing and implementing these elements, I’m passionate about helping clients shape workplaces that are fit for today and ready for the future. #Construction #FitOut #SmartTech #Sustainability #HybridWorking #BCO

I really enjoy starting my morning with insightful events, and today I had the opportunity to attend the British Council for Offices - BCO North Research Launch: Guide to Fit-Out 2025 event. Hosted in Deloitte's Manchester office at 100 Embankment, the event had a packed agenda focused on fit-outs that respond to the tenants needs, the ever agile working world and demanding sustainability requirements. We started with an introduction to the BCO guide to fit-out from the Technical Committee, Neil Pennell, Clare Danahay and Peter Stocks. They provided: • Practical advice for creating healthier, more sustainable workplaces - it starts with choosing the right building and making the right choices for your workspaces. • Insights into hybrid working, human-centric design, innovative technologies, health and wellbeing - how do all these contribute to resilience and adaptability as well attracting and retaining talent. • Strategies for designing post-COVID office environments and achieving zero carbon goals - collaboration between owner, occupiers and technical teams is key. It was nice to see how the new Deloitte fit-out took all of these points in consideration and the proof is in the very positive staff engagement feedback they got six months after they moved in. Special thanks to Nargis Treherne, Sean Beech, Meera Milan Ajith and Jo Ludlam from Deloitte for sponsoring the event, allowing us to see their spaces and how their vision and efforts came to life in what is a beautiful, fit for purpose office for their staff.
