British Council for Offices reposted this
A visit to London yesterday for a launch of the British Council for Offices update to the fitout guide. A panel discussion highlighting the 2025 updates. Expanding on topics from Green Leases - Occupier and Landlord responsibilities to Branding and Identity. How does the occupier pick the right building for them. Gillian Stewart and I have the thinking cogs going and look forward to hosting some round table discussions with our clients and collaborators to keep the conversation going. A great night to see some familiar BCO NextGen faces and meet others. Of course the drinks at The Lookout, Level 50, overlooking London were truely inspirational. The pace of change in workplace design since the last update 2011 is remarkable, and this guide will be an invaluable resource in creating spaces that genuinely support people. Greater flexibility, adaptability and connectivity for occupiers will be key. Exciting times ahead!
Holly Pimm and I had a great evening at the official launch of the British Council for Offices Guide to Fit-Out yesterday at the Think Tank Auditorium in 8 Bishopsgate - what a cracker of a building! It was fascinating to hear from the people who have put the Guide together about its importance, what's going to be covered, and to celebrate the milestone publication (this is its first update since 2011!). The workplace is evolving faster than ever; shifts in workstyles, climate priorities, and technology driving change, all mean we need adaptable and innovative spaces that meet today’s challenges. The updated guide will help all of us at HOP design and create even better spaces for our clients! #BCO #GuidetoFitOut #OfficeInteriors

Thoughtful take on the future of workspace design following the brand new BCO Guide to Fit-Out launch ⬇️ Prioritising human-centric spaces where people feel comfortable and can do their best work is key to creating environments that truly support people. #bcoguide #workspace
An insightful session at the launch of the British Council for Offices Guide to Fit-Out Specification 2025 to a packed Think Tank audience inside the spectacular 8 Bishopsgate last night. As an update to the previous Guide from 2011, ithe new one captures many factors effecting the sustainable design and specification for the fit-out of workspace and describes all key elements of such projects. Key takeaways: Drivers for change in our world of work since the last edition include: • Climate crisis • COVID 19 Pandemic • Hybrid working • Technology change And that these new spaces must: - Avoid the significant material waste we witness between Cat A and Cat B projects • Facilitate hybrid working - through great design of flexible spaces • Adopt human-centric design - to help people feel comfortable and able to do their best work • Embed Al and smart building technology - intuitive interaction with building systems • Minimise life cycle carbon - circular design and efficient operations to support the net zero transition • Enhance wellbeing - providing a healthy and productive workplace The presentation and panel discussion was followed by networking at the Lookout at 50th floor- wow! #lovelondon #thankyou Aros Architects
