CDA's Top Moments of 2024 | CDA Charity of the Year CDA is spending December reflecting on 2024 and highlighting some of our top moments from the year! This year we have been fortunate to support two charities - Fighting Against Cancer Edinburgh (FACE) and Rock Trust. Each summer we vote for a new charity and take part in various fundraising throughout the year including bake sales, marathons and bridge abseils to name a few! The Rock Trust aims to end youth homelessness in Scotland by ensuring that every young person has access to expert youth specific services to assist them to avoid, survive and move on from homelessness. The trust advises, educates and supports young people to enable them to build the personal skills and resources required to make a positive and healthy transition to adulthood. To help support this local charity, Team CDA wore their Christmas jumpers and donated gift in kind essential items which will support young people and help them living independently for the first time. We're looking forward to more fundraising in 2025! #CDA #charity #FACE #Rocktrust

CDA's Top Moments of 2024 | Ocean Point 2 | Planning consented CDA is spending December reflecting on 2024 and highlighting some of our top moments from the year! In May we were delighted our project at Ocean Point 2 Edinburgh gained planning consent. The mixed-use scheme produced for S Harrison Development Ltd. consists of two independent buildings: a 112 bed BTR block comprising a mix of studio, one-bed, two-bed and three-bed apartments and a separate 404 bed PBSA block comprising a mix of studio and cluster accommodation. Mixed-use commercial co-working amenity spaces will be provided for both buildings along with extensive high-quality private and public landscaping. OP2 helps complete the ongoing transformation of Leith’s waterfront through the delivery of a vibrant and sustainable neighbourhood. New routes through the site will link the recently extended Edinburgh Tramline to a new waterfront promenade. Careful consideration was given to daylighting and microclimate requirements whilst maintaining the privacy of both residents within the new buildings and surrounding developments. The buildings complement each other through their vertical language, scale and form, reading as part of a whole for the site but are identified separately through contrasting materiality. CDA's Top Moments of 2024 | Christmas Coffee Morning CDA is spending December reflecting on 2024 and highlighting some of our top moments from the year! A huge thank you to all those who attended our Christmas coffee morning this week. It was great to see so many familiar faces and enjoy a coffee and mince pie in the run up to the festive season. We were also raising funds for the Rock Trust by selling our CDA designed Christmas cards which were a sell out. Over 2024 we have held numerous events across our Edinburgh and Glasgow offices. Situated in Moray Place, Edinburgh and Blythswood Square, Glasgow we are fortunate to have brilliant buildings for both work and entertaining and always happy to have visitors! We're also looking forward to today with our Christmas lunch bringing together both offices again, hopefully there will be a Christmas jumper or two! #CDA #Edinburgh #Glasgow

CDA's Top Moments of 2024 | New Waverley, Edinburgh | On site CDA is spending December reflecting on 2024 and highlighting some of our top moments from the year! 2024 was a busy year for our New Waverley project for Vita Group with it gaining planning early this year and is now on site with McAleer & Rushe. The project creates a 267 bed Purpose Built Student Accommodation (PBSA), affordable housing and commercial/ community floorspace in Edinburgh city centre. As the final element of the larger New Waverley regeneration development, the site will form part of the transformation to create a vibrant and thriving area. The site benefits from a previous planning permission for a residential development however the new alternative proposal constitutes a broader mix of uses within the New Waverley development, as envisioned by the Caltongate Masterplan. The site sits within the Old Town conservation area which the character appraisal describes the material palette as limited, mainly stone and late, providing a sense of unity. The character appraisal also notes the use of materials in a modern and creative way to create interest and richness of texture. The proposed limited materials palette looks to take recognition of the immediate context and the character appraisal of the conservation area. The high-quality palette comprises of sandstone, white render, and zinc. Cues are taken from the immediate context of New Square and Calton road as shown below. We're looking forward to seeing out project develop over the next year.
