Our Masculinity in Engineering Research survey has been live for the past few months, gathering crucial insights into male identity, workplace culture, and mental health in engineering and technology. Previous research in 2019 and 2022 revealed alarming trends, with the number of respondents who had considered self-harm or suicide rising from 1 in 5 to 1 in 4 in just three years. With suicide being the leading cause of death for men under 50 in the UK, and male construction workers 3.7 times more likely to take their own lives than the national average, this research is more important than ever. We have already received valuable responses, but we want to hear from as many engineers as possible before the survey closes. If you have not taken part yet, now is the time. bit.ly/MiESurvey24 Take part. Share your story.

Nominations Now Open! The EqualEngineers Engineering Talent Awards 2025 are officially open for nominations! Candidly, we have been delaying the go-live date because the category supporters and event sponsors have not been forthcoming this year. If we leave it too much longer, it will not be viable to run in 2025. However, with the maelstrom being kicked up around DEI in recent weeks, as a form of defiance, we are determined more than ever that we continue to platform excellence, and keep up momentum, and so continue with the ETAs. Thank you to the support of Royal Academy of Engineering, ECITB, SLR Consulting, Rolls-Royce SMR, Taylor Woodrow, Aerospace Technology Institute and UK Atomic Energy Authority who are all our first-confirmed category supporters for 2025. These awards shine a light on the incredible individuals, teams, and organisations driving diversity, equity, and inclusion across the engineering and technology sectors. From apprentices to industry leaders, we celebrate those making a real impact. 🏆 Do you know someone who deserves recognition? 🏆 Are you part of a team breaking barriers and championing inclusion? 🏆 Has your organisation demonstrated outstanding commitment to building a more diverse and equitable profession? This is your chance to nominate and celebrate the talent shaping the future of engineering! 🔹 Categories include: Student, Graduate, Apprentice, Returner, Executive Leader, Engineer, Engineering Society, and many more! 🔹 Deadline for nominations: Friday 21st March 2025. We’re proud to provide a platform where engineering excellence and inclusive leadership are recognised and rewarded. Let’s continue to build a sector where everyone can thrive. Submit your nomination today! 📩 Link in the comments. #ETAwards25 #EngDiversity

To my network, please check out this important post regarding careers in #geospatial #surveying a great opportunity for employers in construction #socialvalue
A big THANK YOU from president Alison Watson MBE for enabling real progress in #Geospatial Surveying Apprenticeships: 'Following our call to action on 24 January, CICES + The Survey Association want to extend our gratitude to the organisations that have committed to recruiting a total of 25 new geospatial #surveying apprentices for a September 2025 start with registered training providers Cronton Sixth Form College + Riverside College Widnes & Runcorn, Dudley College + T3 Training & Development in London. 'Thanks to Balfour Beatty VINCI, Paragon Surveys, Balfour Beatty plc, Murphy Geospatial, Geoterra, Macleod Simmonds Ltd, Severn Partnership, PBH Rail Group, Severn Trent, Cleshar, Storm Geomatics Limited, Spatial Dimensions, Malcolm Hughes, Powers Survey, Chasing Millimetres Ltd + Global Surveys. 'This collective effort is a significant step toward addressing #skills shortages + ensuring trained professionals are at the forefront in delivering the country’s major projects - but it's just the start. 'These initial commitments will directly influence college recruitment + enable us to formalise the campaign to recruit + train specialist teachers to secure the long-term development of professional geospatial #talent. 'We can work towards attracting young people, work returners + career changers, to ensure that apprenticeship positions are filled with ambitious, enthusiastic individuals. 'I'm confident that as time passes + our members are able to forecast their needs with greater confidence, these numbers will only increase. 'To all those who have responded already, we’ll be in touch with next steps - but if you're interested in being part of this transformative initiative, get in touch or tap the link in the comments to help position surveying where it should be - as a highly respected, critical #STEM career choice.' #SurveyingCareers #Apprenticeships #Infrastructure

Amazing response from Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (CICES) and The Survey Association members for those that are in a position to recruit for the September 2025 intake go #Geospatial #Survey Technician #Apprenticeship. If you want to know more about the campaign, or indeed recruit, do contact Dominic Lane and Katie Holt and do please share the call to action form far and wide: https://lnkd.in/exqyrNwx I encourage you to read and digest the apprenticeship standard, reviewed and refreshed by the trailblazer group chaired by the indefatigable Lucy Powers, is here: https://lnkd.in/ei7e7MRP and note it now includes a mandated geospatial qualification.
