  • We were delighted to host two special events this weekend at West Ham Park and Wanstead Flats to celebrate Eid Al-Fitr. In collaboration with the Humanitarian & Saving Lives Trust and the Ayesha Youth Project, these events brought together hundreds of people in a special moment of reflection, unity, and joy. Eid al-Fitr commemorates the end of Ramadan, the Islamic month during which Muslims fast from sunrise until sunset, and is a time of gratitude, reflection and community. It was wonderful to see so many people celebrating this spiritual moment in two of London’s most cherished green spaces. Our green spaces are at the heart of their communities. They are places where local residents of all ages, faiths, and backgrounds come together to connect and enjoy nature. As custodians of these vital open spaces, we are committed to ensuring they remain places where people of all faiths, cultures, and backgrounds can come together in celebration, reflection, and recreation. #EidMubarak #EidAlFitr #WestHamPark #WansteadFlats

  • The UK exports £3.4bn in financial services to Canada. That’s why the Lord Mayor is today in Toronto to talk trade, investment and mutual opportunities. He will be meeting with major Canadian pension funds to explore UK investment opportunities. This is also a chance to learn from their highly successful sector - which has a great model for the UK to learn from to maximise returns for savers – to build on the Mansion House Reforms. He will also be meeting senior asset management leaders to enhance collaboration between the UK and Canadian investment sectors. • We were pleased to host a Parliamentary briefing yesterday afternoon alongside TheCityUK, The Investment Association, The ABI, British Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (BVCA) and UK Finance to discuss how the Square Mile continues to drive growth, innovation, and opportunity across the UK. Bringing together key policymakers, industry leaders, and experts, the discussion focused on the role of the City in supporting the wider economy — from green finance and fintech to investment in emerging sectors. Collaboration between government and industry is crucial to ensuring the UK remains a global leader in financial and professional services. A big thank you to all our speakers and attendees for contributing to an engaging and insightful session.
