We've secured #SkiddawForest, but that's just the start – now, our 100-year vision for the site can begin. Here's what we have planned 👇 Our restoration fundraiser is nearly at 50% – could you get us over the halfway mark? Donate at https://lnkd.in/eZEQgK6j This project is supported by Aviva as part of the The Wildlife Trusts' Atlantic Rainforest Restoration programme. 🖼️ Painting of a restored Skiddaw Forest by William H Jones.

Not long now until I head down to EKN Nature Finance 24. Looking forward to positivity and meeting people with ideas of how we can pull together for a nature positive outcome. Goodness knows we need action! It would be great to meet up and chat through ideas. Maybe you'd like to know more about the opportunities for locking away carbon or increasing biodiversity with Cumbria Wildlife Trust? Our recent partnership with Aviva is a great example of a business investing in a natural capital project with biodiversity, carbon and social benefits (Skiddaw Forest) not to forget natural flood management possibilities ,oh, and it's just an amazing place. Drop me a line if you're at the conference! #carbon #skiddaw #naturepositive #biodiversity #naturalcapital #naturefinance24 #greenfinance #naturefinance #sustainablefinance #cumbria Ecosystems Knowledge Network https://lnkd.in/enYV3-x5

📢 With the devastating news earlier this week that hedgehogs are now listed as 'near threatened' (i.e that they may become at risk of extinction in the near future) on the IUCN red list, it's more important than ever that we take measures to protect them. If you're lighting a bonfire this year, please put hedgehogs – and other creatures that may see a pile of leaves, logs and branches as a cosy shelter – first. Attending a bonfire? Share this advice with the organisers to help keep wildlife safe 🦔

📢 Announcing our four NEW animated films developed with the Environment Agency to spread the word about natural flood management (NFM) 🎉 We've collaborated with the RSPB, Westmorland and Furness Council, the National Farmers Union (NFU), Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) and the National Trust to create these short films, which showcase how NFM can: 💚 protect communities from flooding 🌱 enhance biodiversity 💪 combat climate change You might remember the films we released a couple of years back with Pete the Frog and friends. This time, Twiggy the red squirrel, Milligan the hedgehog, Pat the cow, and Gill and Isla the salmon help us dive deeper into natural flood management techniques and the benefits they bring. Meet Twiggy from the film 'Wood you believe it' below and watch the rest of the films here 👇 https://lnkd.in/gP39DZY9 RSPB Westmorland and Furness Council NFU (National Farmers' Union) United Utilities Scottish Environment Protection Agency 🎥 Directed by Cadi Catlow
