  • Nearly 1,400 new roof-mounted solar panels will provide power for buildings at Larkhill Garrison after they were officially opened last week by Major General Richard Clements CBE, Director of Basing & Infrastructure and the Army’s sustainability champion. The solar panels support the Army’s commitment to operate more sustainably and reach net zero by 2050. They were installed by Aspire Defence Services Limited on behalf of DIO. Almost 11,000 panels have been installed on Salisbury Plain Training Area garrisons in recent years, saving 600 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year - equivalent to the annual absorption of 27,000 trees. • Work is officially underway at RAF Digby to build four new accommodation blocks for personnel. 🚧🎉 A ground-breaking ceremony was held this week to mark the start of work to provide 276 en-suite bedrooms for junior ranks to improve and modernise accommodation for personnel at the Strategic Command-operated site. Earlier this year, we awarded a £65 million contract to Galliford Try to complete the project, alongside Arcadis as a Technical Support Advisor. As part of Defence’s commitment to growth, the contractors will use local suppliers and labour where possible. 🦺 Read more: https://lnkd.in/eDFsENnJ #RAFDigby #MilitaryAccommodation

  • This week we’ve been at the Defence Procurement Research Technology Exportability (DPRTE) Exhibition. DPRTE connects buyers and suppliers from across the defence procurement and supply chain community and enables stakeholders to learn about the latest developments shaping the future of defence procurement.   Earlier today, DIO’s Commercial Director Claire Benham addressed the conference to detail our efforts to promote sustainability and conservation and how we continue to build relationships with our suppliers – as well as recruit new ones! #DPRTE2025 DPRTE 2025

  • Our first #DIOGivingBack volunteering event of the year has caused quite a buzz! 🐝 Volunteers from DIO and our suppliers worked to fence in beehives at Tedworth House, to support the reestablishment of a beekeeping course at the centre, which supports serving military personnel who are in recovery for physical or mental health conditions.

Volunteers from VIVO joined a social value project to fence in beehives at Tedworth House, which will directly benefit military personnel who are in recovery for physical or mental health conditions. The project was run by the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) (DIO) as part of its charity initiative #DIOGivingBack. Our VIVO team worked alongside others from Pinnacle Service Families and Amey as well as from our supply chain partners Antac Support Services Ltd and Gavin Jones Ltd. Tedworth House is a military Personnel Recovery Centre that runs courses as part of its rehabilitation programmes and we at VIVO provide Hard FM services at the property. Staff at the facility were looking to re-establish a beekeeping programme for Personnel on Recovery Duty (PRD). To achieve this, there was a requirement to fence in existing beehives on the site and provide appropriate signage, which had fallen into disrepair. To make this happen, a picket fence was built around the hives and flower beds were created filled with bee-friendly plants. The work was completed in a day and has transformed an unused area of the garden. Training Officer at Tedworth House Capt Pat Burgess said: “What a fantastic day. The efforts of everyone supporting this event means that we are now in a position to get our beekeeping courses up and running, further down the line, we hope to add another hive and increase the amount of our own honey at the house. “This project embodies what we do here, it’s not just about securing the future of the hives, which is excellent, this event shows what can be achieved when we work together and focus on creating something that benefits the wellbeing of people and the environment. Seeing the PRD volunteers getting involved, being part of something, is how we re-engage people who may be suffering. A huge thank you to all those involved.” Amanda Hill, VIVO Defence Services Operations Director, added: “Well done to everybody who volunteered to take part in this great initiative, I am sure all this good work will be a real benefit for residents at Tedworth House. “I’d also like to extend thanks to our supply chain partner Antac for helping to facilitate this extremely worthwhile day.” #SocialValue #Military #Volunteering #FacilitiesManagement
