The Drive Partnership

Civic and Social Organizations

Protecting victims and survivors of domestic abuse by challenging and changing the behaviour of those causing harm.

About us

The Drive Partnership, formed by Respect, SafeLives and Social Finance, is working to transform the national response to perpetrators of domestic abuse. Together we developed our flagship Drive Project to address a gap in work with high-harm, high-risk perpetrators of domestic abuse. We also advocate for systems and policy change - to develop sustainable, national systems that keep victims safe by responding more effectively to all perpetrators of domestic abuse.

We were pleased to attend this event today, such an important issue to raise. It was great to hear from Amy Doyle, Amy Hewitt, Jackie Gallagher, Rebecca Goshawk and Lucy Campbell about the Housing First for Couples- Feasibility Study and Key Insights. This study examined a Housing First approach tailored for couples facing entrenched homelessness, including when domestic abuse is present. There were discussions around how breaking the cycle of offending and abuse is key, if a victim/survivor manages to leave, the perpetrator is very likely to find a new relationship with another vulnerable homeless woman, and so the cycle will continue. To break the cycle, the first step is to address the perpetrators and their needs. You can read the full study here: https://lnkd.in/eF8vGXi2 Thank you to Solace Women's Aid, Single Homeless Project and Commonweal Housing 🙏 The Drive Partnership SafeLives

  • Last week, we were delighted to attend the #IWD launch event for Woman's Trust's new report, which explores the connection between domestic abuse and mental health. The event also featured an insightful discussion from an expert panel, including Niki Scordi, Sona Barbosa, Aisha Graham-Sharif, Sharon Holland, Subha Mukherji, Ravi Thiara and Tim Woodhouse. We’re looking forward to attending the upcoming launch of A Housing First Model for Couples, hosted by Single Homeless Project, Solace Women's Aid, and Commonweal Housing . This event marks the launch of their new feasibility study on a Housing First service, designed specifically for couples experiencing homelessness. The proposed model aims to reduce risks for victim-survivors of domestic abuse who experience entrenched homelessness in a couple, ensuring that victim-survivors and those causing harm are not excluded from stable housing, healthcare, and specialist support; which are vital to effective responses to domestic abuse At the Drive Partnership, we know the importance of safe and stable housing in response to domestic abuse. Through our project Restart – which aims to intervene earlier with those causing harm known to Early Help or Children Social Care - we work closely with children’s social care, housing, and domestic abuse specialists to develop innovative pathways to support survivors to remain safer in their homes. Without stable housing and support for all parties, victim-survivors remain at greater risk, and those causing harm without secure accommodation are less likely to engage with services and ultimately change their harmful behaviour. This is a key opportunity to explore how we can better address these complexities and create pathways to safety for couples who are experiencing both homelessness and domestic abuse. We’re looking forward to hearing from a brilliant line-up of speakers, including our own Amy Hewitt, Practice Advisor at the Drive Partnership. • It was wonderful to attend an insightful event at the House of Commons last week, hosted by Standing Together Against Domestic Abuse and supported by Sojan Joseph MP, highlighting the vital role of the NHS in tackling domestic abuse. We heard powerful conversations with Dame Nicole Jacobs, Tabitha Morton, and sector experts on how healthcare can play its part and drive significant change in reducing violence against women and girls. Thank you to STADA for organising this event and for the opportunity to contribute to these vital conversations

  • We're proud to share a new Evaluation Report of Restart – an innovative pilot project developed and delivered in collaboration with the Drive Partnership, the Mayor's Office for Policing And Crime (MOPAC), Respect UK, and Cranstoun. Restart is a collaborative programme that brings together children’s social care, housing and domestic abuse services to identify and respond to patterns of harmful behaviour at an earlier stage. Currently, it is being delivered across six London Boroughs. The Drive Partnership commissioned Jo Sharpen and Ellie Hutchinson, freelance consultants with a combined forty years of experience working on issues related to gender-based violence, to produce a comprehensive report. The evaluation set out to gather: - Qualitative learning around the impact of the intervention on adult and child victim-survivors’ wellbeing and safety. - Information to inform the development of improved child-level outcomes frameworks in order to improve future impact analysis for families. - An understanding of the impact of alternative accommodation pathway for adult and associated child(ren). The evaluation, which took place over a period of 8 months in 2024, places a strong emphasis on centring the voices and experiences of both adult and child victim-survivors. We encourage you to explore the full report to gain a deeper understanding of the findings and the future direction of interventions aimed at preventing domestic abuse and supporting affected families ↓ https://lnkd.in/gjDhG7dr

International Women’s Day, recognises and celebrates the resilience, leadership, and achievements of women across the globe. Annually observed on the 8th of March, this day serves not only as a reminder of the strides made towards gender equality and equity, but highlights the ongoing efforts to create a safer, more equitable world for women. With ‘Accelerate Action’ as the theme for International Women’s Day 2025, we worked with our colleagues at The Drive Partnership to shine a spotlight on some of the amazing women within the Action on Perpetrators Network. The network is a key forum to drive action and change in the response to perpetrators of domestic abuse. By coming together we are accelerating action and ensuring that addressing the root causes of abuse and violence remains central in halving violence against women and girls. As the network celebrates its fifth anniversary we look forward to seeing what can be achieved in the next five years. Thank you to all the women who shared their experience, work and reflections with us. 💚 💜 #IWD2025 #AcceleratingAction SafeLives Social Finance H.O.P.E Training & Consultancy Cranstoun Durham University Durham University Centre for Research into Violence and Abuse (CRiVA)
