Yesterday the ECOSA team spent the day at the Old Sarum in Salisbury learning about grasslands and habitat indicator species, which also provided practice for the whole team on UKHab classification 🌱🪻 We covered a wide range of grasses and herbaceous species before surveying quadrats across the site to allow us to identify the grassland habitats present. The training was supplemented with discussions about how this impacts upon Biodiversity Net Gain assessments - so ice creams were in order to finish the day off! A huge thank you to Dom Price of the Species Recovery Trust for an informative and entertaining training course! 🌿 #ECOSA #TrinityConsultants #SpeciesRecoveryTrust #botany #grassland #training #CPD #ecology

The ECOSA team have been out and about the past couple of months undertaking great crested newt surveys across the south of England 🦎 We've been lucky enough to see both sexes of the species, eggs, and multiple smooth and palmate newts in bottle traps! Here's a small selection of the animals encountered by our ecologists 🦎 We provide a range of ecological services in relation to great crested newts including eDNA and HSI assessments, population size class assessment surveys, translocations, and supporting EPSM and DLL. Given the timing restrictions on some of these services, please get in contact if you think your project will be impacted by great crested newt on admin@ecosa.co.uk or calling 02380 261065 today 📞 #ECOSA #TrinityConsultants #greatcrestednewt #amphibians #surveys #ecology

Since introducing Night Vision Aids (NVAs) onto our bat emergence surveys this season, we have been successful in recording multiple bat emergences from various locations! 🎥 Creating an overlay of the emergence locations (see comment section for photo) has also provided more accurate data that is easier to interpret when writing reports - as you can see from the below it may have been easy to miss the bats emerging from near to ground-level 🦇 If you have an upcoming project that requires bat surveys, or if you have any questions about what bat surveys involve and you are unsure if you require them, the ECOSA team are happy to help! Please contact us on 02380 261065 or email admin@ecosa.co.uk today #ECOSA #TrinityConsultants #batsurvey #bats #ecology #NVAs

The ECOSA office was closed last Friday to allow the team to take part in our annual beach clean day for the Surfers Against Sewage 'Million Mile Clean' 🦀♻ We spent the day out along the New Forest coastline covering approximately 1.5 miles of beach & collected almost 140kg of litter dominated by lots of waste including discarded fishing rope, large items of metal, and plastic materials from 59 different brands! All of the brands recorded were submitted to the SAS 'Brand Audit', with further details found here https://lnkd.in/eJ_ZeArS 🍬🗑 #ECOSA #TrinityConsultants #SurfersAgainstSewage #MillionMileClean #beachclean #charityday
