We've had a busy few days this week at the second stage of public consultation for our proposed Correen Hills wind farm with Force 9 Energy, in Aberdeenshire. The two community events took place on 8-9 October in Clatt and Alford. Both were very busy, and it was good to see so many local residents and businesses come along to learn more about the project. Following feedback from the public during our first round of consultation, we've reduced the number of turbines on the site by nearly a third and have introduced some new community measures. The virtual exhibition is still open for anybody who wants to view the revised plans: https://ow.ly/nutR50TJOj8 Jamie Hunter #AcceleratingCleanEnergy #OnshoreWind #ScotlandClimateTargets #Sustainability
About us
EDF Renewables is part of one of the world’s leading renewable energy companies in the UK. With our portfolio of 42 sites across the UK, including onshore, offshore, battery and solar, we are providing some of the much needed new affordable, low carbon electricity the UK needs. EDF Renewables UK has more than 14 GW of renewables projects in planning and development. We look after the operations and maintenance of our own wind farms. Customers need new low carbon electricity to be affordable – our innovation is driving costs down, for example our Blyth Offshore Demonstrator Project which has used float and submerge technology on the foundations, 66 kV electrical connection cables and 8.3MW turbines – all firsts in offshore wind. We are also looking at the future of onshore wind using the most modern and efficient turbines to make this technology as low cost as possible. The basis of our success is our people. We have an engaged, enthusiastic and dedicated team in an organisation that encourages agile, flexible and dynamic working. The willingness of the team to pull together to meet challenges is the source of our momentum. Whether you're working in the operational environment on site, or in one of our support functions in an office, we value the contribution each person makes. Every year we run a apprenticeship and graduate schemes to provide unique opportunities for people to get a foot into the renewable energy career ladder. For all careers opportunities and enquiries, please visit our careers page - www.edf-re.uk/careers We pride ourselves on working closely with local communities throughout the projects, from the early stages right the way through to development, construction, operation and beyond. Members of our offshore wind team have been at Floating Offshore Wind 2024 in Aberdeen the past couple of days. Yesterday Claire Melrose (Gilchrist) met with industry newcomers at the Networking Breakfast Briefing in her role as Vice Chair on the Renewable UK Shadow Board, and we've been having lots of very productive conversations with attendees at this year's event. Also pictured is Sebastien TESSIER, EPCI Director for EDF Renouvelables’ Provence Grand Large Project. He spoke at this morning's session on 'Financing the future: Investment and cost reduction in floating offshore wind', in which there were lots of interesting discussions on technology readiness levels and investment in floating projects. Thanks to RenewableUK and Scottish Renewables for hosting another fantastic event. It was fantastic to meet the first group of students taking part in our award-winning education programme, Destination Renewables – developed and delivered in partnership with DP Energy Group, Pembrokeshire College and Pembrokeshire Coastal Forum – at Neath College this week. These 16-18 year-olds will spend the next months learning about the renewable energy sector and meeting industry professionals. Since the programme launched three years ago in Pembrokeshire College, the programme has gone from strength to strength. To date, 45 partner companies and 62 individuals have delivered sessions in the classroom, helping to inspire the future workforce and equip tomorrow's workers with the #greenskills they need. We are delighted to see this programme rolled out in Neath College and beyond. Pictured with students from Neath College are Ffion Davies from EDF Renewables UK and Neath College tutor, Cheryll Cairns. #AcceleratingCleanEnergy #Sustainability #STEM #SkillsForTheFuture #GreenSkills

Our Director of Strategy Markets and Investment Tristan Zipfel was one of the witnesses today at the Committee meeting for the Great British Energy Bill. He gave evidence on how GB Energy could support the growth of the renewable sector, as well as the opportunities for GB Energy to help with the rollout of emerging industries – like floating offshore wind (#FLOW) – and reinforce the connection between our projects and local communities. #AcceleratingCleanEnergy #GBEnergy #RenewableEnergy #Decarbonisation Picture taken from Parliamentlive.tv

Community groups in the Dumfries and Galloway area have received a boost this week, with the launch of the £20,000 Stranoch Wind Farm Sponsorship Fund. Funding is available now to support local projects and initiatives who need financial support. In other areas, our sponsorship funds have helped with supplying equipment for parent and toddlers’ clubs, running garden projects in schools, and more! The fund is a precursor to the Stranoch Community Benefit Fund, which will go live when the site has been built and the wind farm is operational. This will be worth over £510,000 per annum for local communities – totalling at least £15.3m over the course of the project’s lifetime. Any group interested in sponsorship needs to fill out the form at https://ow.ly/OMiy50TFWJZ before 18 November. #AcceleratingCleanEnergy #OnshoreWind #CommunitySupport #Sponsorship #CommunityBenefitFunds

It was great to see an additional €750m earmarked for essential onshore and offshore grid upgrades in the Irish Government’s #Budget2025 yesterday. The funds should provide a real boost to the development of Ireland’s Phase 1 offshore wind projects and support the creation of a thriving offshore wind energy sector. We also welcome the commitment to building capacity across Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications and relevant State agencies to support renewable energy generation – and we're committed to playing our part in that success with our growing portfolio of Irish wind, solar and battery storage projects. #AcceleratingCleanEnergy #ClimateTargets #80By30 #OffshoreWind
