We were delighted to host a delegation of UK policy makers and industry to our @EnBW offices in Stuttgart Germany to share learnings on the path to clean energy. Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar, Scottish Labour spokesperson on Net Zero, Energy and Just Transition Sarah Boyack, and newly elected Chair of the UK Parliament's Energy Security and Net Zero select committee Bill Esterson were amongst the delegation who joined us to discuss the challenges and opportunities of energy transition. The trip also served as a fact-finding mission for the group to understand the unique EnBW operating model as a majority publicly owned energy utility and explore what opportunities there are for #GreatBritishEnergy to learn from the success of EnBW. Across a busy agenda the group visited our fuel switch facilities that are engineering coal fired power stations to be hydrogen ready, observed EnBW's leading EV car charging infrastructure, spoke with leadership teams around worker's rights and representation, and discussed governance models and how we engage with our public shareholders. We also took time to meet with local German politicians as they too chart a path towards energy transition. Delivering on the ambitious goals set for decarbonisation in either Germany or the UK will take enormous effort. In the UK we are proud to be contributing to that through our three wind farm projects which should deliver clean energy for up to 6 million households. Conference season is now over! Across six days and two conferences, our Managing Director, Damien Zachlod, Head of Government and Stakeholder Affairs, Stuart Barnes, and Government and Stakeholder Engagement Manager, Sam Airey, attended over 40 events, receptions, and meetings (and walked over 95,000 steps in the process!). 🔋At the Labour Conference, EnBW hosted a panel event alongside the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change with Sarah Jones MP, Tim Morris and Tone Langengen focusing on the new politics needed for net zero, and a dinner event with the Labour Climate and Environment Forum on the future of Great British Energy. ⚡️At the Conservative Conference, EnBW hosted a drinks reception in partnership with the Conservative Environment Network to discuss the past government’s progress on delivering clean energy. We heard from CEN Director Sam Hall and David Simmonds MP 💬Across both conferences our EnBW events were attended by Ministers, Members of Parliament from both parties, industry peers, and an array of leading think-tank and academic voices. ☀️Everyone we spoke to brought a new and interesting perspective to these conversations, which covered many of the major challenges and opportunities faced by the clean energy transition. It was wonderful to engage with so many people on topics including major grid upgrades, the challenges of balancing the future energy system, energy prices, the success to date of offshore wind, and, importantly the political and industry efforts needed to meet ambitious targets. 🍃Offshore wind was of course a key focus of discussion, ranging from the need for contracts for difference schemes to adapt, the important role that ports play in capturing UK domestic value from offshore wind, planning reform, industrial strategy, and the enormous potential remaining for the UK to continue leading on delivery of offshore power. Simultaneously a fascinating, stimulating and exhausting few days for the team, leaving us ready to continue the contribution that EnBW Generation UK can play in delivering 6 GW of offshore wind power, which will be able to supply over 6 million households with electricity in the future.

Great to have a packed room full of good conversation at the Conservative Environment Network reception sponsored by EnBW Generation UK Speakers, Director of the Conservative Environment Network Sam Hall, Shadow Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government David Simmonds MP, and EnBW Generation UK's Managing Director Damien Zachlod, spoke to the topic of the evening: "Net zero: A Conservative Success Story?" Damien's remarks focused on the significant investment EnBW are placing in the UK across our 3 offshore wind projects, which will deliver up to 6 million homes worth of renewable electricity. He also reflected on the success of the industry in the UK, noting that the UK sits only behind China globally for the scale of its installed offshore wind. EnBW Generation UK is invested in playing its part in the continuing success of wind power in the UK as the path towards clean power continues. #CPC24

We’re in Liverpool at the Labour Party Conference! Yesterday our Managing Director, Damien Zachlod, spoke at our partner Tony Blair Institute for Global Change's fringe event: Net Zero Needs a New Politics and New Approach - How Do We Get There? Great discussion with Sarah Jones MP, Minister for Industry at Department for Energy Security and Net Zero and Tim Morris from Associated British Ports, led by Tone Langengen as chair.   We covered a lot of ground, including discussing how the new government delivers strategic intervention and works alongside industry to deliver ambitious clean power goals. I am looking forward to joining the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change to discuss the new approach required to meet our net zero goals during the Labour Party conference in Liverpool on Monday 23rd September.

The success of the energy transition and climate protection in Europe depends significantly on the cooperation between the North Sea neighours. In particular, the collaboration between the United Kingdom and Germany is especially important and continues to gain relevance. As EnBW Generation UK with projects in the North and Irish Sea and for EnBW as a whole there are many areas of focus, including cross-border cooperation in the offshore sector and the development of hydrogen supply chains. It was a great honour for our Managing Director Damien Zachlod and EnBW's Executive Board member for the Sustainable Generation Infrastructure Peter Heydecker to welcome His Excellency Ambassador Andrew Mitchell and Kathryn Boyd, Deputy Trade Commissioner for Europe and Director for Trade in Germany, to EnBW City in Stuttgart yesterday. Ambassador Mitchell has only been in office since September, and ENBW is one of the first German companies he has visited in his new role. This is a promising beginning of a fruitful collaboration.🤝
